But who the **** was "Hands Of Stone"
So many fans don't understand why there are weight classes.

I could give a *** about Newton. I go by the eye test.
Newton can say all the *** he wants to say but no amount of science or math will ever convince me Lebron James hits harder than Prime Tyson. Which is what people are saying since bigger means hitting harder. So Lebron at 6'8 280 pounds full swing hit harder than 5'10 215 Prime Tyson?
Nope. Sorry.Comment

this makes no sense ... you need to change your name to JasonDKSABoxingWhat? When the hell did I say that. I said that getting punched by Tyson is the exact same thing as getting punched by Trinidad if the angles were aligned perfectly. The difference in results is because of weight.
Think about this.
Tyson punches Brandon Rios with a perfectly timed right hand? What happens. Rios get knocked out.
Trinidad punches Rios with that same right hand. Rios gets knocked out.
Tyson punches Kovalev with that same right hand. Kovalev gets knocked out.
Trinidad punches Kovalev with that same right hand. Kovalev maybe staggers a little but easily recover.
The reason is NOT that Trinidad doesn't punch as hard as Tyson, it's because Kovalev is bigger than Rios hence able to take the punch better.Comment

you keep bring up non boxers.
just because skill can overcome size advantages doesnt mean you disproved 400 year old proven physics concepts.
A group of trained heavyweights will punch harder than a group of equally trained middleweights. That is why we have weight classes in pro and amateur boxing. That has nothing to do with ***ing lebron james or some other non boxer.
Why is there more damage at a crash scene of a train than a car when the car was going faster? massComment

It's not that weight is the only predictor of punching power and since those 2 are basically in the same weight class the size effect is minimal between the two while other factors display a more substantial effect.
Weight, muscle fiber composition, neuronal recruitment, body structure, technique, style are all factors that influence punching power.
But if you perform a regression model with data of many fighters and plot punching power against weight you will see a nice and clear positive correlation between the two vaiables.
What is the reason of this correlation? basic physics.
Try to think with some criticism and not like a ******ed..Last edited by Helm; 09-05-2017, 03:07 AM.Comment

You totally misunderstood.
Once again let's make this easier.
What I mean is this:
You can teach a 140 pound man to punch harder than a 220 pound man. Pacquaio punches harder than freaking a 220 pound basketball player ok.
But what you CAN'T teach is durability. The 220 pound guy will always be harder to hurt because he is bigger.
When I was 170, I was much easier to hurt than the current 210 version of me. BUT my punching stayed the same. I punched the same at 170 as I do now at 210 because I'm not a professional fighter, I didn't learn tactics. I'm just wailing away. Some midget 5'3 flyweight probably punch harder than me but I can assure you i have the better chin,
this is actually the dumbest thing i have ever read in my (near) 10 years on this site.
Get yourself down to a boxing gym and find out for yourself if a HW hits harder than a WWComment

haha stop it. Like the previous poster already said, go to a gym, spar one round against a lightweight and then against a heavyweight. I think this is the only way to convince you.Comment

You must be trolling lol.I could give a *** about Newton. I go by the eye test.

Or you must have a really low IQ to not see the evident fallacy in your reasoning.Comment
