Shavers was like the Tyson of the 70's. Holmes was on unsteady legs when they fought but he went on to win. Prime Holmes would have won by UD over the shorter Tyson.

A good big man beats a good little man any day, as the old boxing addage goes.

Yes, Yes he was highly underrated.

I think he's top 5 all time material, somewhere behind Louis, Ali and Foreman.

Or Ali before Louis, or whatever.

I found Holmes' fights with the likes of Norton, Shavers, Weaver, Cooney, L. Spinks, Snipes, Witherspoon, etc., anything but boring myself, and I don't think too many who saw those fights would use the term "boring" when describing them.

Yes, he is. I personally rank him #3 on my All-Time list; but a case could be made for Larry Holmes being the G.O.A.T.

Oh, it's true....the case could be made if you look at his in-ring accomplishments.

Holmes had the better jab, footwork, and ring smarts as well as an even stronger chin than Foreman IMO. I would favor Holmes in this fight for sure.
I finally agree with you, well maybe its cuz i'm a blind larry holmes mark.

I won't say he's underrated. He gets plenty of credit from the boxing historians and fans.

he's just not that popular with the casual sports fans.

In your opinion, what are larry's 10 biggest wins. Do you think he would beat foreman, i think he would have made a fool out of foreman.

                      a top 10 list might take awhile, but a foreman-holmes prediction won't.

                      holmes ud.
