The guy defended his Title 20 times and was a world champion for 7 years, 1978-1985, yet people dont rate him that much...all of his losses came when he was out of his prime and he was the first person that could have broke Marciano's 49-0 record..and if you think about it he should only have 3 losses, Tyson, Spinks and Holyfield..

It seems to me that he gets alot of respect in the Boxing world. I don't think he is underrated. Most people I talk to have him high in their top ten all time lists.Originally posted by Parody -

it's because he ran out of a ring in fear during a fight, during the olympic trials after getting caught with a good shot..if that aint ***** ****,what is..Just ask Ray Mercer, his olympic roommate, about it...Much respect to Holmes though, his jab was excellent and a thing of beauty and he was a great champion.Comment

Larry Holmes probably had the best textbook jab in all of boxing.
