I think Canelo wanted to fight Golovkin any time. I think DLH had no interest in anything but right now at earliest. Remember DLH tried to talk Canelo out of fighting Lara. Canelo got his way and it almost backfired. DLH wasn't going to let his cash cow go down the drain if he wasn't somewhat confident that Canelo could win.

I never bad mouthed Canelo for the fight not happening last year. Had he not fought Golovkin this year then I would have been on the ducking bandwagon. But we got a fight so the complaining should stop and let's enjoy it.

No one has to move up. A lot of guys do for challenges or because they can't make weight anymore. Haglar never moved up and Hopkins did only after the big money fights against the guys who moved up happened. He got fame and fortune from those fights.

The fact Golovkin is getting the biggest name and most profitable fight he can get is no different than previous guys. Nobody in his situation would have done differently, you'd have to be a moron to do differently.

I agree. But GGG fans have been demanding Canelo move up for like 1-2 years. I just don't like fans demanding certain fighters move up and others dont have to. If you can make weight, then you shouldn't have to move up. Canelo just made 154 just 2 fights ago on a calibrated scale...

Chavez didn't turn down the fight. He accepted GGG last minute after the contract was signed $1,000,000 per/lb penalty. It was Bob Arum AND his extensions on top of extensions that killed the fight.

Just be glad he didn't fight Ward cause Ward would of BEAT him. If Jacobs almost beat GGG Ward who is 10x better would of UD him all DAY!!!

And quit crying you lil girl and filling our your EXCUSE cards. The fight is almost here. And im sure youll take off your GGG #1 hat and shirt and put on your Lomachenko #1 hat and shirt if Canelo wins. Just like you did when Pac lost and then Kovalov.

I don't think it was Canelo's decision to make. Oscar wasn't taking any chances with Golovkin. Canelo is his golden goose and he wanted to be sure he keeps producing golden eggs. Apparently Oscar thinks Canelo has a shot now. We'll all see soon. Looking forward.

what is incorrect about this comment..... ?

based on the fact that Golovkin refused to fight Canelo on at least TWO previous occasions,

any perceived delay, is OBVIOUSLY on him

FACT: Golovkin could have fought Canelo already if he was prepared to be a man of his word.....

Golovkin Would Fight Ward at 168 and Canelo at 154.....

and let's not forget that Golovkin also refused an earlier offer from Canelo to fight at 160

tell you what, instead of spinning that "Canelo waited for G to get old" rubbish..... how about we meet in the middle and agree that the time seems to be about right for both fighters?

I get that Canelo could possibly have made the fight sooner

I don't get that posters ignore the fact that Golovkin could also have made the fight sooner

also, is insinuating that Canelo waited for Golovkin to get old..... ..... saying that Golovkin is cashing out?

it just sounds like an excuse

Because he was the Middleweight Champion. If he wanted to be the MW Champion then fight the title at 160lbs. If you don't want to be the champion drop the title. That includes DLH's Ring Magazine who had/have him as the Middleweight Champion.

I think asking Canelo to move up in weight when he is claiming to be the Champion of the MW division and asking a guy like, oh let's say Floyd to move up is a big difference.
