Comments Thread For: Golovkin, Sanchez on The Long Wait To Secure Canelo Clash

"We have been talking about this fight for years. The last two years, I lose interest, because after every fight, Golden Boy said, 'No. OK, maybe next fight.' I remember the situation after the Amir Khan fight, when I go into the ring. Oscar De La Hoya said, 'This is a good day for us and I will call GGG's manager tomorrow.' I think it was hard on the fans too.

I'm happy Golovkin finally has the big money fight he's been yearning for. At 35 it would have been a shame for him not to get such fights but 9/16 is almost here. I think Golovkin has a lot more to lose if he comes up short. He's 35, he's had an aura around him since coming into the states, he needs a big win to solidify his legacy so with all that being said I think GGG will come to fight. I expect fireworks this September. Canelo seems disgruntled with the criticism he's received especially from the Mexican fan base. Golovkin at this stage needs a win because at 35 I think he knows that he needs this win. I honestly can't wait for this fight. It's going to be a barnburner.

Not sure why Canelo would want to beat a declining Golovkin, rather than beat the GGG of early last year

Could of took the flat fee or did a CW. He chose not to do either nut sit and squat at 160 waiting for the 154 lbers to move up.

people turn old randomly, its not always 36-37, can happen earlier. they waited for him to age, thinking he will lose an edge.

for that reason im rooting for ggg.

not saying ggg has 'gotten old', but he is as closer to 40 then he is 30 now. maybe the jacobs clash didnt arouse him to train hard, this is the fight he wanted since 2015 when canelo vacated.

he is going to train hard and beat him up for making him wait. its about psychology sometimes. ggg going to follow him and hammer your boy down!

good boy canelo after the fight.

                  canelo will get crushed

IMHO this is a much easier fight for GGG than was Jacobs and Canelo is doomed.

                  GGG jab will control distance

Canelo's excellent head and body movement won't be enough to evade it

The jab is heavy. It will do damage and create opportunities.

Canelo can't close without eating the jab.

                  Canelo will lose power exchanges.

GGG's workrate is high and Canelo's stamina is questionable.

As Canelo eats jabs and tires he will leave openings. Once GGG has him on the run it's over.

I doubt GGG respects Canelo's power the way he did that of Lemieux and Jacobs.

After he's softened Canelo up he'll walk thru him.

Talk of Canelo having superior skills is BS.

I just can't see how Canelo can win this.
