conor did well in the early rounds simply because of activity, he was the much busier fighter. but conor doesn't punch like a boxer he has maybe 30% of the power of a maidana. once floyd started throwing punches he lost every round and the ref saved him from getting humiliated. no one expected conor to outbox him, his only chance was a KO within 3-4 rounds, but he went there to survive not to win. conor did better than expected yes, but let him fight GGG at 160 to see how good he really is, he needs to prove much more. i believe he has the potential to win a title even in boxing, but definitely needs garcia or roach.
Boxing fans, explain mcgregors early success?

Relax.
Yeah, Floyd used a particular gameplan...
And it worked.
Floyd felt he could bait Conor, take some of his shots, exchange a bit, drain him, and take him out late. Conor woulda, coulda, shoulda done this and that... but in hindsight, he missed his window (first 4 or 5 rounds). He never went all out. He didn't have the stamina to go the distance.Comment

Boxing looks overrated?
The best MMA has to offer got walked down, battered and stopped by a 40 year old retired FLOYD MAYWEATHER.Comment

Terrible troll job. Go back to MMA forums. Obviously the game plan was let Conor punch himself out. Floyd walked right through the slaps.Comment

To be fair, Conor didnt really employ his big shot. He tried to pick and pop more than blast that left like he usually does. Though, he did use that uppercut, and landed one or two.conor did well in the early rounds simply because of activity, he was the much busier fighter. but conor doesn't punch like a boxer he has maybe 30% of the power of a maidana. once floyd started throwing punches he lost every round and the ref saved him from getting humiliated. no one expected conor to outbox him, his only chance was a KO within 3-4 rounds, but he went there to survive not to win. conor did better than expected yes, but let him fight GGG at 160 to see how good he really is, he needs to prove much more. i believe he has the potential to win a title even in boxing, but definitely needs garcia or roach.Comment

Boxing isn't all about winning rounds, that is just one aspect of it. It's about balance, adaption, reaction, and control; damage control, stamina control, round control. You can technically win the first 2 or 3 rounds in boxing, but in reality you could be losing the fight in doing so. If you waste too much energy without inflicting enough damage, or tiring out your opponent, like McGregor did, then you put yourself in a very bad position for the rest of the fight.
Mayweather allowed McGregor to tire and then put constant pressure on him, made him work for every second of every round, whilst inflicting damage upon him. Which resulted in the knockout.
McGregor's rounds won count for nothing, they were give away rounds, he ended up getting knocked out. Mayweather's goal was to stop McGregor, and he did what was necessary to do that, and did it well all things considered. I was not impressed with McGregor.Last edited by HardSpar; 08-28-2017, 03:13 PM.Comment

Honestly, no he didn't.
He was more measured than he is in MMA. You never saw him commit to that famed 'Celtic Cross'. I think he thought he could/would have to go all 12, so he was more measured with his attack.
Plus, it's Mayweather.Comment
