Canelo was 23 and had 44 fights, he was plenty ready, what Oscar really means is that Mayweather wasn't yet ready to be beaten at 36 years old. The last several years people were just waiting for MAyweather to get old enough to beat, it never happened. If they fought next year, a 41 year old Mayweather would be a slight favorite over Canelo.

Now Canelo might very well beat GGG though.

youd have thought he was in his nappys the way this loss is being revised lol. he wasnt some novice stepping up to fight mayweather. he had 42 wins and had just beaten austin trout which was a solid win, arguably one of canelos best performances. the fight was big for a reason, people thought canelo had a legitimate shot. from where im looking, his opposition in the few fights before mayweather were just as good as the opposition after that fight, theres not a huge difference thats for sure.
