The OP asked what would happen if it's a beatdown or an uncomfortable KO, and I answered. You and others might have gone into the death/serious injury talk but I wasn't replying to that.
Maybe I should've phrased it differently, I'm not saying literally no rule changes have occurred in boxing history, I'm saying media/public outcry over bad matchups don't result in changes and if this fight is embarrassingly one-sided the most I see happening is limitations on who an 0-0 guy can face.
Let's say Floyd absolutely puts a beating on McGregor or knocks him out in a way that makes uncomfortable viewing, can you see there being some serious questions asked to the NSAC about how they have allowed a novice fighter get in with an elite boxer?
It wouldnt be sanctioned under normal circumstances but they have let money talk of course.

It'll just validate that Floyd will have put MMA in the grave. It'll also cause a lot more MMA fighters to lace up the boxing gloves in an effort to disprove that boxers are more deadly with their hands.
