He was vacated WBA officially notified the Rojas camp. I've never heard of an abc org telling a fighter the belt was vacated you are now fighting for the title and then changing their mind. They might just make him mandatory for Leo Cruz to make up for this mess. Or they have to break their own rules and reinstate Mares. Will be interesting to see how this plays out

I just read the article WBA never said it was officially vacated. From the article.

"But as Santa Cruz and Mares are are going to fight for the super championship (on October 7), the regular title has already been vacated," explained Bustillo to Sanchez.

Just like the fight from earlier this year with GGG and Jacobs. Jacobs was the WBA Regular so the title became vacant once the fight took place, he didn't vacate it before tje fight he came in as the champ.

But these greedy bytches likely wanted to collect an additional sanction fee from the Rojas fight. That's what this nonsense is all about more fees the WBA can pocket.

There is really no need for the Super and Regular belts in the first place. Leo and Mares fighting should of eliminated the Regular belt and just crowned 1 true WBA champ. Now you have this awkward situation where they strip a fighter because he is supposed to be fighting a super champ already announce it but that fight falls apart and now what do you do.

What happens to Mares belt? I thought he just vacated or was stripped of the WBA Regular belt because he was fighting Santa Cruz the WBA Super champ. WBA just sanctioned Jesus Rojas vs Claudio Marrero for the WBA title on the Canelo/GGG undercard

haven't they made a right mess of things

if the average boxing fan had the slightest bit of common-sense and integrity, that multi-title bullshht would never have happened

having multiple sanctioning bodies is ridiculous..... but one sanctioning body having multiple " champions "within a single division, just screamed ******ity

that was blatant greed/corruption, and boxing has paid the price

e.g.
Golovkin is currently sporting a hot defense streak..... but that hot defense streak is centered around defending a second-rate title that no longer exists

forget the fact that the " title " was bullshht to begin with..... that defense streak is still active - and yet the title is NOT active..... so those rubbish WBA "defenses" should be removed from Golovkin's record

even the WBA have admitted that those lesser titles are rubbish

nobody with an ounce of integrity and love for this game should ever support the dropping of standards within the sport, even if it happens to benefit your favorite fighter..... even if you hate Hopkins with a passion, a genuine boxing fan should not support greed/corruption over integrity for boxing

Sturm was the real champ..... whereas Golovkin only became the real WBA champ when he beat Jacobs, regardless as to whether you agree with that decision or not
