At the age of 41 with 150 victories, Sugar Ray Robinson fought 3 fighters in a row who were making their professional debuts. That's correct, all 3 were 0-0 when they fought Sugar Ray Robinson.
Coincidentally.......all 3 ended their careers 0-1.
Mayweather vs McGregor isnt the first.Comment

True but Moore had also just won the Light Heavyweight title in the fight prior to fighting Marciano.
In all fairness though, Marciano weighed between 185-192 pounds for all of his heavyweight fights.Comment

What does this bs even mean with 50-0? Why do these boxing dipsh^ts keep acting like 50-0 is some mythical sh^t?
When JCC fought his 50th fight he fought Roberto Collins Lindo who was 1-15. Did he "deserve" 50-0?
Its just a f#cking number you dummies making 50-0 something it isn't.
And like I keep saying some 115lber from Thailand is gonna butt**** Rocky & Floyd & retire at 72-0 in 4 or 5 years & none of this will matter.Comment

Who cares whether he retired or not,& to the other clowns on here shîtting on Srs record, this from Wikipedia:
Together with Omar Narváez, Chávez holds the record for the most total successful defenses of world titles (27), most title fight victories (31), most title fights (37), and the second most title defenses won by knockout (21, after Joe Louis with 23). Chávez also has the longest undefeated streak in boxing history, at 13 years. His fight record was 89 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw before his first professional loss to Frankie Randall in 1994, before which he had an 87-fight win streak until his draw with Pernell Whitaker in 1993. Chávez also set the record for the largest attendance for a boxing match—132,274—at the Estadio Azteca for his fight against Greg Haugen in 1993.
People are such morons as to believe this nonsense that he fought cabdrivers when: he had more fights against the best in their prime regardless of circumstances, willing to take on all comers, ducked nobody ,& did all those things more times than just about anyone Ali is the only 1 who comes close in that but still even Ali fought plenty bums too or people with few wins/many losses/old & that should be proof enough that resume means nothing back then as long as guys were warriors going at it back then, back in those days it didn't matter,& Chavez Sr fought 6x in a yr in many of same yrs he fought the absolute best of the best.Last edited by kushking; 08-09-2017, 08:36 PM.Comment

BoxRec can be your friend...

But the point is, this really SHOULD be called just a exhibition match, not a full blown fight on either guy's record. Just like it shouldn't add to McGregor's MMA fight record, it shouldn't add to Floydie's boxing record.Comment

BTW, here's a very interesting bit about one of Marciano's 1952 fights vs Bernie Reynolds, a 51-9-1 fighter at the time:
Reynolds gave a very good account of himself. He clearly outfought Marciano in round one. The second round was a slugfest, and Marciano's powerful punches were slowing Bernie in the latter stages. Marciano came out to end it in round three but Reynolds was still punching strongly. A terrific right to the jaw which actually lifted Reynolds off of his feet ended it. The arena was a bedlam of excitement as the referee finished his count. Attendance was 4,528 and the gross gate was $12,586.
So, IOW, tickets averaged THREE DOLLARS EACH! Ah for the good old days.
