I don’t see a problem with Mayweather padding his record and taking a payday. Duran and Chavez fought a number of no-hopers between big fights as did Ray Robinson so why can’t Floyd? He didn’t go out of his way to make this fight, Conor and Dana are the ones who kept bringing it up and pushed for it. Show me a man who’d turn down an easy payday and I’ll show you an idiot.

I agree with Arum on this. This is disgraceful and a black eye for boxing. Marciano's record will be replaced by a circus match

Those no hopers were at least pro-boxers, not wannabes from other sports trying to scam the public

Didn't Rocky pay for his final win? Anyway Floyd has done way more in Boxing than Rocky so he's already overtaken him for me. As for your other comment, some of those fighters they fought were making their debuts so they weren't actually pro-boxers at all.

Since people dodged the question, I'll ask again. If Floyd loses will you consider him 49-1?

pretty sure they weren't fighting 0-0 bums when they were at the top of the sport, nor treating those mismatches as expensive mega fights either. What Floyd is doing is a shameless scam.

Of course he'll be 49-1 that goes without saying.

Chavez beat ten fighters who were making their debut and Robinson fought three fighters in a row who were making their debuts (he was 151-12 at the time)

Then why are people saying he shouldn't be 50-0? It's just silly to me to say no he doesn't deserve 50-0 but he deserves 49-1

It doesn't matter what they say because the record books will read 50-0 after the fight is finished.

You hit the nail on the head right there. It's just like when Stephen A Smith said most people don't think Berto and McGregor deserve to be in the ring with Mayweather, but it was okay for Pacquiao to fight someone most people had never heard of, and to lose to that guy too (controversial or not). The bottom line is Floyd is held to an impossible standard that nobody else is. They discredit everything he does. If he was fighting Thurman/Spence people would be like "He's ducking McGregor!". If he wins it doesn't count if he loses it counts x100!

I think both moves are a little crazy, but made sense. You seem like the guy who says this guy over here doing something makes sense to you & this guy over here doing virtually the same thing doesn't. Thats all I'm calling you out on. Olympic medal or 2 UFC titles make lil difference to me. Its still a guy with no pro fights fighting a guy they probably shouldn't be fighting but if it makes money it makes sense in boxing.
All I'm saying is it's an exhibition and nothing more. And I'm far from the only one who thinks that.
