I've noticed a new trend since the Ward vs Kovalev rematch

That every body punch which lands nowadays is considered a low blow by boxing fans. The irony is that boxing fans used to love body punching when their heroes were the ones delivering them but now since their heroes are on the receiving end of them now they are beginning to detest them by calling them low blows.

It even happened again Saturday night in the Garcia/Broner bout when Adrien appeared to hurt Mikey several times to the body and all of his fans were calling them low blows just like they did in the Kovalev/Ward rematch.

Broner did land one clear low blow vs Mikey

And I saw no-one in the rbr thread mention anything about low blows so no idea who you are referring to

The real trend I've seen which I predicted was fighters attempting low blows because they saw ward get away with it

It's hypocrisy at its finest but it's alright. It seems that body punches are only low blows depending on who is getting hit. It's a subjective protest.

you're pretty good with sighting low blows with citations to other posters doe. ideally mods should be original and objective. you just hand out warnings like what they call ''keyboard warriorism'' ala Trump statements

Yes there were a few posters calling Broner's legitimate body punches on Garcia low blows.

How can one consider themselves a prizefighter would risk a disqualification by intentionally punching his opponents in the nuts? It's almost next to impossible.

Both Ward and Broner had extensive amateur careers, therefore they know the fundamentals and rules of the sport.

I don't think anyone given an amateur pedigree would deliberately injure an opponent by punching them in the balls and risk losing a fight, money and their license to fight at the same time.

Unless they knew that the ref would allow them to get away with it.

Yet, it's still on the border/beltline thus making it a legal punch. Hey, the boxers don't make up the rules, they just play by them. It's these state lawmakers who make these rules up. If the State Athletic commissions don't like them then perhaps they shouldn't implement them.
