P.Will himself in an interview said Floyd did not avoid him that they were interested then he loses to Sergio & gets paralyzed from the bike accident.
He fought & beat cotto.
Winky was a couple of divisions over Floyd. Get real.
Sergio Martinez: Floyd was making the Cotto fight at 154 for more $ and a better opponent. Who is better Cotto or Sergio? Cotto TKO'd him in 9 (cuz you ain't know).
Your welcome.

Floyd Mayweather Jr., Champion
Miguel Cotto
Paul Williams
Shane Mosley
Antonio Margarito
Zab Judah
Kermit Cintron
Luis Collazo
Joshua Clottey
Jackson Osei Bonsu
Oktay Urkal
Tell me why instead of fighting Cotto, Williams, Margarito, Floyd fought Ricky Hatton and retired right after?
When presented with Cotto, why did Floyd say "I won't let the sport of boxing retire me, I'll retire before that happens"?
Why did Floyd say this only to continue to fight for another 10 years to this day?Originally posted by Chollo Vista View Post

And I quote "Roger Mayweather knows the next opponent for Floyd will probably come out of the Nov. 10 battle between WBA welterweight champ Miguel Cotto and former three division title-holder "Sugar" Shane Mosley."

Floyd promised Margarito that he would fight him in the future when it made smarter business sense. Before that Floyd said he’d fight Margarito any time any where just as long as Bob Arum showed him the money.
.Floyd said after the Mosley fight he wanted to fight the best, just line ’em up. Floyd has said numerous times he doesn’t duck or dodge anyone. Floyd called Miguel Cotto a “punching bag” and said that Cotto knew he couldn’t beat me, but when Cotto challenged Floyd to a fight in 2008, Floyd backed out and had Ellerbe tell the New York Post that Cotto’s PPV numbers weren’t good enough.
In 2005, Mayweather called out Winky Wright. The details were hammered out: the bout would be at 154lbs but weigh-ins would be the morning of the bout rather than the day before and Wright would not be allowed to gain more than eight pounds between weighing in and the start of the contest. But Mayweather and Bob Arum suddenly pulled out, demanding changes to the purse-split and other such things until the bout was dead in the water. He chose to take on Sharmba Mitchell instead.
Floyd was a great fighter but he certainly ducked a few prime fighters.

1. Cotto lives too far
2. Cotto not a PPV star.
3. I'll retire from boxing before it retires me.
I mean it was just ridiculous. Even Roger Mayweather knew the boxing public wanted Floyd to fight the winner of Mosley vs Cotto.
Ok, if you're not going to fight Cotto, then at least fight Williams who was the #2 WW at the end of 2007 behind Cotto. Floyd opted to retire, only to continue to fight for the next 10 years.
I remember being pissed

Forrest beat mosley, not once but twice. that's when Oscar decided to move up because he didn't want it with vernon Forrest. even though the dude had his titles around his waist.
you dont think de la hoya vs Mosley 2 would have happened right after Mosley vs Forrest 2 is Mosley would have won?
cause I do.
Forrest fought mayorga cause the golden boy didn't give him a ppv shot
the rest is history.
Oscar also said he was fighting the cotto vs margarito winner. margarito won and Oscar picked pacquiao.
he got ducks on his resume
