Say what you want, It's a record that still stands & within 6yrs of retirement he was in the H.O.F. And Hopkins wasn't "old" at 43, he had major victories after he got beat.
It's hard to believe how people can't acknowledge success. Joe is a legend 46-0. 21 title defenses retiring undefeated. Not much else could be said.

Hopkins couldn't fight at a fast pace at 43, which is why he had to feign injury.

I acknowledge that Joe was a great fighter. I've never said otherwise, but his resume isn't great.

His stats may look great on paper, but not when you break them down and apply context.

There was nothing great about defending a title that wasn't even recognised, 21 times against mainly low level opposition.

-Abraham has the 4th most title defenses in MW history and is a 2 division champ. "average" lol, Pavlik barely made 3 defenses, and Joe never fought him.

-Joe was eating head shots all night against Kessler/Bika, Ward's face barely got touched, lol "blueprint", Ward wasn't even in his prime.

-Froch beat the shyt out of Kessler in the rematch proving he was robbed the 1st time and flat out better.

-Pascal is a 2 division champ with wins over Dawson, Bute, Gonzalez etc. His fights with Hopkins were just as close as Calzaghe's lmao.

-Kov blew Hopkins out with absolute ease, Joe went life and death with him even though they were fighting at 173. Before that the biggest man Hopkins had fought was Tarver, he had more time to adapt and was a better LHW vs Kov.

-Miranda has only ever lost to elite fighters, better than 95% of Joe's resume

You know your resume isn't that great when you have to hype Miranda.

Let's act like Hopkins was competitive at 50 years, lost to a bum like Joe Smith who woulda lost to Tarver.

This would be a very difficult style match up for Andre Ward. Joe Calzaghe was very fast, with a high work rate, had good movement and used to throw punches from all odd angles. However, if anyone could help neutralize Calazghe's speed advantage, then it's Andre Ward. However, I would have to slightly favor Joe Calzaghe in this potential match up.

I mean styles styles makes fights. Had Kovalev fought Joe at 175 then he would have knock Calzaghe out because Joe was a mid range fighter and Sergei is a long range fighter.

On the other hand, Kovalev was an easier style match up for Ward because Sergei is a lot slower and more static than Joe and doesn't know how to fight on the inside.
