What's with the notion that we should root for Floyd just because he's a boxer?

In that case you should forget about this sport and go over to MMA.

I've always prided myself as a boxing fan rather than an MMA fan because I favored a person who put 100% at one craft than 25% in Muay Thai, 40% BJJ, 35% boxing, 10% karate. McGregor winning means that 35% level of commitment just defeated 100% level of commitment. (These numbers are just spnhu eculations)

Superb post...and why I'm hoping Conor eats canvas

Ummm actually I gave you 2 names to your hypothetical scenario. You decided to use triangle theories as rationale to counter my argument.

Truth is we'll never know because no one other than Floyd fought that list of fighters. That's like me asking if Mayweather can go through DLHs resume undefeated. Truth is no one knows. But don't try to push a hypothetical scenario that you can't prove as fact. Do you know the definition of fact?

Not only do you use a hypothetical scenario that no one can prove, but you match it with triangle theories as rationale.

Pac got KOd by Singsiurat. Who's a lesser opponent. Singsurat or Cotto?

Marquez lost to Chris John, but beat Pac. Who's the lesser opponent?

Khan lost to Prescott but beat Maidana. Who's the lesser opponent?

Canelo almost got KOd by Cottos brother, but not Miguel. Who's the lesser opponent?

You are an idiot for not only trying to pass a hypothetical fantasy question off as fact, but even a bigger idiot for using a triangle theory as justification. Oh, and outside of Canelo, how many losses did that list of opponents have and at what point in their careers did Floyd fight them?

And why are you calling that list of fighters a murderer's row? Are you seriously ******ed??

Conor beating Floyd would invalidate the entire history of boxing. The Ali - Frazier rivalry, Hagler - Hearns, Duran-Leonard et al. Not only that, it would be the biggest upset in boxing history.

You'll never hear the end of it from MMA fans. If by some miracle it happens Boxing would become a running joke, a punchline.
Why do some find this so hard to understand? It would make the sport borderline obsolete in the eyes of many. Why would anyone take a sport seriously if someone who has never done it in their entire life beats one of the greatest fighters to have ever lived? I HATE Amir Khan, to my core, but if he was fighting Connor I would be on the bandwagon so damn quickly because I understand the repercussions of a loss and what it would do to the sport that I love.

Because this is boxing vs MMA. And if you were a boxing fan you would root for the boxer... I would root for Antonio Margartio over any of these MMA guys

Void's a worthless sack of **** whose never contributed anything but negativity to this sport and this ****ty farce is just another example of his toxic presence/influence, but I'd happily support him maiming this annoying fenian f*ggot and ending his career and any future earning capacity.

True, without eye gouging, groin strikes, etc, MMA is not truly real fighting, but it's much much closer than boxing. Boxing is the sport of punching and not being punched. It's nowhere near as close as MMA is to being a full fight.
