its the fact that he lands them. whether it hurts or not, nobody wants to walk into punches.I agree. Anyway, i think Floyd's straight right hands and counters must have something on them because it seems to make good fighters become gun shy. I'm not saying he's heavy handed but i think it's the accuracy and how sharp the shots are that start making fighters think twice. Floyd isn't Malignaggi, he still has enough power to get respect and nobody needs to be taking those shots all night while getting tired.
Also, you would have to say that your average boxer must **** harder than your average UFC guy, even with the small gloves when you consider the pure technique of a boxer. I'd bet not many UFC guys have been hit flush with true punching technique in a real situation. Some UFC guy was saying it on Youtube, i can't remember his name, he was a fighter. He was saying Conor might end up surprised by Floyd's power, it might not seem much to another boxer, but to an MMA guy that has never been hit by guys who have been only punching all their life, it's different. Also, you can look at it that Floyd has also been hit by punchers with far better punching technique than McGregor. The shots that are putting UFC guys down might not have the same effect on a guy that is used to being hit by actual boxers that can punch.Comment

All the people calling this a fake fight are dusting off their usual criticisms of Floyd real fights-gloves, USADA, tax problems, weak comp etc etc.
Floyd and his haters need new routines. LMFAO!Comment

Mayweather wanted 10 oz gloves and non-Reyes or those Maidana Everlast gloves...
Floyd had two options 147 or 154 and he was reluctant himself to fight at 147, so he went with 154 rather than a catch weight because he knew it could potentially hurt the sell of the fight.
So to directly answer your question - Floyd had no intention of fighting at 147 and would have to choose 10 OZ. gloves no matter what and that's what he wanted anyway.Comment

The headline should have read: Mayweather wanted 154, so no one could criticize him for the 10 Oz. pillows. Soon as the fight was signed at 154 - 10 Oz. was required and Floyd knew that.
I love these biased articles though... where is the article where Floyd said he didn't mind 4 oz or 8 oz gloves for the fight LOL...
Knowing damn well that Nevada would not sanction that.Last edited by MisanthropicNY; 07-12-2017, 10:42 AM.Comment

The real question in all of this is how will he go? By KO, TKO, RTD or UD
This weight remark is all b.s. Dude fights at 155 and he'll rehydrate to like 170 ish. He'll look massive next to Floyd come fight timeComment

i completely undestand the weight and 10oz gloves no issue there whatsoever.............But not allowing the guy to wear Mexican style/punchers gloves just seems like complete overkill from floyd lol. Mcgregor already has ZERO chance & most like myself have agreed that he probly wont even be able to touch Floyd with a meaningful punch. Spare me the A side B side b.s.because i could care less. No boxer should have the power to pick what type of gloves his opponent uses so long as the commission deems that said gloves are approved.
Oh and this fights going 12 Floyd aint going for the K.O., he hasnt been able to do it in over 10 years and honestly theres no need for him to do so in this fight.
UD 12 FloydComment
