And while we're on the subject...greatest doesn't necessarily mean the best. There's guys like roy jones who just didn't stsy at mw long enough to really solidify his place among the top mws of all time, but he may have very well beaten them all. In that context, accomplishments like unifying the division and holding the record for title defenses mean a lot.

It is technically impossible for GGG to be an All-Time great because he chose to get beaten by Alvarez instead of being undisputed with Saunders. Beating BJS would have been The stepping stone to 168. But ggg fans are the most cowardice claiming that Froch and Chavez Jr. ducked therefore that's excusable to not fight at 168 which doesn't make sense...

The most logical theory is that it's GGG who doesn't want to as there could be a possibility that Ward would accept a challenge. Of course however IAH Ward wouldn't be able to make 168. Therefore, Golovkin would have the opportunity of a catch at 171 for Ward for a LHW title opportunity.

I mean Chavez Jr. did a catch with Fonfara and even attempted 164.5...

But GGg... noooi! Heaven forbid anything above or under 160... when nobody in other weights close to Middleweight can hang...

good fighter who I enjoy watching but #1 middleweight of all time is something I don't think he can accomplish at this point in his career. he can be an ATG if he beats canelo, Charlo, rematches Jacobs, and go up to fight a champ n win

OK I guess we're talking about two different things . I'm talking about ATG as a middleweight and I think your talking about the top 40 fighters of all time.

It really isn't complicated...unless you happen to be Triple L's promoter, I guess.

The answer: Just beat other great fighters your own size or bigger.

Fighters meaning plural- 3 or 4 of them.

Your own size or bigger means opponents who have a track record in your division or higher.

Sooooooooo...Lil g has got his work cut out for ATG status.

He has a couple of wins against good fighters and may - honestly - have 0 wins against HOF fighters.

He has to beat Canelo, move up to SMW and beat 2 or 3 top guys there, and then beat Ward/Sergio at LHW.

All of his wins are against contenders - not champions (although some were technically champion) - in one weight class without a single solid win on his belt...and he's 35 years old.

                    Not. A. Good. Look.

I meant best head to head ****face. alltime greatest lists are somewhat of a novelty and are compiled with other things in mind...like longevity, competition, titles won and defended etc. and to clarify, we're talking about all time greatest mws.
