It's going to be hard as hell for anybody currently to be considered an ATG. That term shouldn't be thrown around so lightly.
For GGG to be considered an all time great?

That **** ain't for us to decide anyway. The way boxing works is that in general the greats of the pasts are set up as legendary figures against whom todays offerings cannot hope to compare. In 30 years time the very best figures of the current period will be remembered and thought of differently to the way they are now.
If Golovkin continues to campaign and win at 160 for another 2 or 3 years (maybe 5 or 6 fights) against the best available I could see him going down someplace in the top 20 all-time at MW based mainly on longevity. In terms of ATG for all weights he ain't really close.Comment

Not that i think ggg is the best mw of all time, or even think it's possible for him to achieve it before his career is over...but who do you rate as the best mws of all time and what specific accomplishments make you rate them that way? If you're gonna call people ******s who dksab, you should back it up by showing why.As many know I don't like Golovkin or his fans. I was reading this and thinking this guy is being genuine, he may be overrating Charlo a little but I see where he's coming from.
Then I read.
"he'd have to be seriously considered for #1 middleweight of all time."
And "OMFG this guy is a fucking ****** that doesn't know shit about boxing" immediately entered my thoughts.

I doubt he will accomplish enough to be considered the greatest mw ever...but it's not as far fetched as it sounds. I'm not the idiot calling people ******s who don't know boxing...i woulda thought you'd at least have your list for top 5 mw all time on hand.
And before you start throwing around the obligatory srr, ketchel or greb...many pundits rate hagler above those guys. If we disect hagler's career with the same level of criticism that we use for ggg...it's not that far off to say ggg can be considered among the greatest mws with a few signature wins and by collecting all the belts and breaking the defense record like op said.Comment

Where's Robinson? Srr=sugar ray robinson.
And while we're on the subject...greatest doesn't necessarily mean the best. There's guys like roy jones who just didn't stsy at mw long enough to really solidify his place among the top mws of all time, but he may have very well beaten them all. In that context, accomplishments like unifying the division and holding the record for title defenses mean a lot.Last edited by Real King Kong; 07-07-2017, 02:23 AM.Comment

Yes, a lot of lists go #1 monzon #2 hagler...
It's subjective to a certain degree, which is why it's not out of the question for ggg to be somewhere in the discussion depending how he finishes his career. #1 would be a stretch...Comment
