              I don't put much stock in 49-0.

Rocky didn't defend his title many times.

And Floyd oh-so-carefully managed his career by waiting, retiring, re-starting, and picking and choosing whom to fight and when.

Most of Floyd's big name wins were against opponents who were WAY past their prime. And usually out of their weight class.

No shame there. It just doesn't deserve huge admiration in particular.

How many fights did Sugar Ray Robinson have before losing? 80-something?

Most of those wins were against slow white guys.

On the other hand, Sugar Ray Leonard defeated WAY better opponents -- like Wilfred Benitez, Tommy Hearns and Roberto Duran. All in their primes (though Duran was past his very best, which was at LW.)

But, because Leonard took on ALL the best competition RIGHT NOW, he also got beat, even in his prime, by Duran. So.....

I'd say 49-0 doesn't mean much to me.

Well im not going to get into schedules bc longer ones have benefits as well bc you train harder for a specific guy which makes for no excuses as far as wear and tear......i will agree with just different era comparing a HW to a Mayweather in ANY era....??? lol

Any boxing enthusiast should figure out that Marciano had the better resume due to the weight class itself.,less opposition to choose and overall match ups bc Floyd DID pick guys at certain times that he knew were less dangerous....Marciano only fought who he could and who was there...you cant penalize him there.

The argument that Rocky fought old men is completely thrown in the trash in this case. Mayweather fought consistent older fighters who were past prime and the average age of his opponents is older, I did the math a month or two ago.

Walcott, Charles, Moore, and Joe Louis (as Marciano fought them) are p4p better than De la Hoya, Mosley, Pacquiao and Hatton (as Mayweather fought them). Unless they were undisputed then they weren't real champs.
