The problem I have with Marciano is two of his biggest fights where against smaller light heavyweights that were past their best days. I need to see him against a prime heavyweight that was great or near great and that didnt happen in his era. I think he also belongs lower on the ATG heavyweight list as well. Marciano had a great story with a very sad ending but I have to be realistic here. I clearly do not see him comparing to Floyd as far as opposition which means ultimately, his record. Hands down, Floyd is the pick.

Floyd's 49-0 is better than any other 49-0 in the sport's history. Monzon, Marciano, Lopez, Calzaghe, Chavez, none of them fought the number of champions or top fighters as Mayweather did.

Sugar Ray's 128-1-2 was more impressive though IMO.

      P4P All time:
      1. Sugar Ray Robinson

Mayweather's 49-0 is not a record. Marciano's was because he is the only heavyweight champion to retire undefeated (And as champ).

Unlike Mayweather, Marciano was a real fighter who never needed gift decisions and home referees to protect him.

ehm, marciano had some dubious decisions go his way, amongst others hitting below the belt, after the bell and when his opponent was down..

Never got a point taken. so no.
