Kovalev was fine till he was hurt by 2 borderline low body punches in the 8th round, then one hard punch to the head, and that was it ... till Ward pushed him to the ropes and hit him with what looked like 3 hard low blows, only one of which was picked up by the camera definitely landing low.
Kovalev wasn't half dead, he was hurt by a foul punch and sat down on the bottom rope waiting for the ref to do something about it. Even if Weeks genuinely didn't see that Kovalev had been fouled, he should have given him a count at that point, not just waved off a fight that was evenly balanced, with the end of the round only seconds away.
Ward was dropped hard in their first fight, but the ref didn't just wave it off, he gave Ward a count and a chance to recover and get back into the fight.
Weeks didn't act on Ward's fouls and he didn't give Kovalev a count because he was doing what you biased hypocrites are always accusing UK refs of doing .. looking for an excuse to stop the fight and give the win to the home fighter.

were these two body-punches low..... ?
Q. well, then why did Kovalev attempt to fake a foul ?
Q. how can you conveniently overlook that fact when making your assessment?
Q. what is worse, a punch slipping low, or taking a dive ?
as I said, trust you to be here crying

just send them a video of weeks warning ward in roudn 2 for a low blow and then the punches in round 7 and 8 land in the same spot and he completely forgot that he said it was low in roudn 2. and then the last 3 punches were even lower than the punch in round 2! they wont change their minds of course but they will squirm trying to come up with ways to rationalize it.

Ward would be ridiculed for filing a protest. Just admit it. You and many others thought Ward was gonna get smashed but when he actually hurt Kovalev, the accidental low blows gave you all the ammunition you need to discredit the win.
I didn't think Ward would get smashed. It was a possibility but before the fight I thought Ward had won the mental battle already so the likelihood was a decision for him. I will admit I never saw a tko/ko of any kind for Ward - but few did.
Now that I just said that I'd love to see the betting books - that would explain a few things - 'cos sorry, Weeks was awful and if there is corruption in Vegas it will show through on all levels including betting.Last edited by SteveM; 06-20-2017, 08:12 PM.

Does Duva have any evidence of all these spectacular low blows?
Because the Kovalev fans on here haven't been able to provide any.
