He was rocked by a right hand but was not out in his feet, he then got hit with at least 2 low blows following that.

Ward finished him with a hook to the crotch, anyone who thinks this is justifiable is ****ing ridiculous.

    the result must be overturned.

Ward proved he is indeed one the sneakiness dirtiest boxers of this generation.

Kovalev's behavior there is indefensible, those weren't even very hard shots, he was faking low blows, but the ref wasn't buying it. Ward shouldn't have stopped, he should have kept punching the turtle.
No standing 8 count in championship fights or in Nevada. Weeks had no choice but too stop it Kovalev should have took a knee but he's never been hurt like that before so he panicked.

The last punch of the fight...

I dare anyone to claim this is not a low blow!

        The decision should be overturned.
The ref will almost never, 99.9% of the time, never, call a low blow when the fighter being hit is bent over. The ref might stop the action and warn both fighters, but they will not call the low blow. Kovalev was already done and the ref was already heading in to stop the fight when you watch it in real time, emphasis on "real".

I'm glad they're protesting it. That type of fight ending can't be tolerated no matter what.

Not necessarily true. There is no standing 8 count in the unified rules of boxing, which is pretty much the only rules followed in professional boxing-but when Kovalev was sitting on the ropes, Weeks could have called it a knock down and gave Kovalev an 8 count. I believe Weeks stopped it because the previous round Kovalev stopped fighting on a body shot, and turned away from the action twice. I believe Weeks made a judgment call based on the way Kovalev was acting in the last 2 rounds.

What was Weeks supposed to do? Pause the fight? Kovalev was looking for an out. He wasnt fighting. You aren't supposed to either kneel over or turn your back on your opponent. He did both. It's very very hard to deal with a fighter who doesn't want to fight. And that was what Kovalev became in the 7th and 8th rounds.
              ^^^^^^the truth right there ^^^

He was "bent over" because he had already taken a shot to the nuts and sure enough, he took another low blow following that.....

It's really sad that people are justifying the stoppage.

                  Tony weeks himself posted this

I stopped the fight due to Kovalev not protecting himself had I saw the shots were low I would not have stopped the fight. My mistake

Well there you have it, he's admitted the fight should not have been stopped and that the shots were low.

First Ward hit Kovalev on the belt line that Weeks pointed out at the beginning of the fight. If you're suggesting the last punch like so many keep saying, 1) Kovalev was bent over so the ref won't call the low blow, 2) In real time Weeks was already rushing in to stop the fight, before that punch landed.

Now as far as that right that shool Kovalev up. 1) Kovalev didn't even remember taking that punch at the end of the fight, which indicates that he was absolutely out of it, 2) Kovalev didnt complain about the stoppage until a few minutes after the actual stoppage, which again indicates he was out of it.

I do agree the stoppage was early, Weeks should have called a knock down and gave Kovalev an 8 count. But as I said in another post, Weeks made a judgment call based mostly on what Kovalev did in the last 2 rounds, when he stopped fighting on a body shot and walked away, and he turned his back to the action twice.
