You are thinking too much about the largely unsupportive boxing fanbase, who don't even support their own favorite exciting fighters' PPV (GGG, Kovalev). UFC fans love McGregor and will support him, and some Floyd fans will support the fight too, and some boxing fans. Yes, of course it will crack 1.5 mill and possibly go over that. McGregor is the biggest selling PPV fighter in UFC history, he sells 1.4-1.5 mill himself in UFC PPV's.
McGregor VS Mayweather won't break 1.5 mil..... here is why

caucasian american fans only buy when their fighter is likely to win. simple logic right?LMFAO Love Latin Fans, Mexican Fans are the BEST Boxing Fans in the world right up their with UK Fans but that is a SMALL % very small it is not as big as you think and I thought for so long.
What drives up PPV buys are CASUAL CAUCASIAN AMERICAN SPORTST FANS! This is what drives up PPV Buys, THIS is why Oscar De La Hoya was a big Superstar, THIS is why Mayweather is a Big Superstar.
UFC putting up big numbers without Latin Fans so explain that? Biggest Draw in UFC History is BROCK LESNAR? WHY because he brought out a HUGE WHITE 16-35 year old Demographic from the WWE and most of them are Caucasian. I don't think they do 5 Million but it will do GREAT Numbers
So no Sorry that typical boxing fanbase won't effect anything if we buy the event or save our money for GGG vs Canelo because the Casual Sports Fan is GLUED IN ALREADY the Buzz is already going STRONG the amount of Bets being Placed in Vegas is Staggering already.
Lets the Experts speak on this they know far more than you and I do:

but of course you will just continue to reply with your BS trying to convince yourself and others that "THIS WON'T SELL MUCH"

whites are not dumb. show me 1 instance where they bought over 2 mil when they are more than 4-1 underdogs.
and nope latinos are #1 PPV buyers. all the top PPV buys are on mexican holidays with boxers the latino fans know.Comment

McGregor is bringing his 1.5M PPV buys from the UFC.
If you're a Mayweather hater, you'll pretend Mayweather is only bringing 500K, but he's bringing his 1.5M PPV buys as well.
That's 2-3M right there.
Plus youre gonna get about 1-2M from the non-combat sports audience that will be ****** in by the spectacle.
So thats 3-5M.
Now exactly where it lands between those two numbers depends on how many boycott the fight because of the farce that Mayweather-Pacquiao turned out to be and how many others boycott over some of the negative press from the perceived mismatch of this fight.
I predicted we'll see closer to 5M than 3M. JMO.Comment

those white UFC fans will not buy the PPV because even they know Conor will lose. You are thinking too much about the largely unsupportive boxing fanbase, who don't even support their own favorite exciting fighters' PPV (GGG, Kovalev). that's the point.
name a single time UFC fans supported their white stars who are huge underdogs.
by the time Chuck Liddell, Lesnar etc became underdogs, whites stopped buying their PPV's.

ITT: Third worlders tell Americans about the purchasing habits of the American consumer. Trust me this fight will be huge. The writing is on the wall. Sports radio, ESPN, other sports networks won't stfu about this exhibition. It's already getting massive promotion for free as it is. Wait til they start hyping it.Comment

0 logic huh?
name a single instance where whites bought PPV in the millions for a fight where the white fighter is 10-1 underdog.

huge coverage when Brock Lesnar came back to UFC. It's what everyone was talking about. ANOTHER TITLE RUN?
But he was an underdog to Overeem.

Not that I take anything you say particularly seriously, but I think there are a few things you should take into account if you genuinely feel this way.mayweather pooped the bed on his big night. huge disappointment.
his next fight got 400K PPV on a latino holiday.
now he's coming back with the biggest mismatch in his career without the support of latino fans on a mexican holiday.
logically this fight is not going to do well. the reaction you see in the media is smoke and mirrors. the hype will die. GGG/Canelo will be the fight that the latinos will buy.
it actually has competition and suspense.
Firstly have you been on social media the last 24 hours? If you have, you would realise the level of hype already, if you consider that neither of the fighters have made any kind of public appearance, let alone a press conference or anything which promotes the fight, the hype is pretty unreal. If you have been on social media you will also notice how many casual fans are posting or tweeting, much more than knowledgable fight fans, a lot of these people not only think this is a good competitive matchup but they think McGregor takes it, lots of comments along the lines of 'this will be Floyd's first proper challenge'. Its laughable, but this is the recipe you get when you have casuals and two crossover stars.
Secondly you are not taking into consideration that the US is not the only PPV market out there. I think it will do at least 500k buys in the UK for example - probably a lot more. Now you might be only talking US market, but I think the point is, as a world event this fight is huge. I think there is no way to accurately predict the buys on this, there is no formula, your guess is as good as anyone's, and they are all worthless, because there is no historical data to fall back on.
I think the fight will do between 2-3 million, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did double that - especially once you get these two guys in the same room a few times on a media tour. You have two of the greatest trash talkers in the history of combat sports, in a one-off almost freak show event, with probably a solid undercard to boot, which will probably attract some hardcore boxing fans also.Comment
