Yip, Spence edges it as the number one welterweight in the world. Nobody will be keen to face him, even though he didn't look sharp in the first half of the Brook fight. He will only get better.
The Brook win is more impressive than anything Thurman has done.
I think Spence is way more dangerous than Thurman. Thurman boxes more, can move very well for his size. Uses his legs well. But I don't think will save him against Spence. He'll have to hurt Spence to win, I don't think he is so fast and such a good boxer that he can outbox him for 12 rounds.
Spence will start hurting him to the body immediately.
Keith is technically the man, but he hasn't looked upper impressive in a minute. Life and death with porter, unimpressive with Garcia, touched up by collazo, Thurman has work to do. After years of manny and Floyd dominating opponents this parity is exciting but surely less definitive
Just looking at the IBF rankings to see who he might pick up as a mando - not a lot of names there we want to see him fight. Highest ranked is Ocampo, who is unbeaten, but only because he's fought B ranked Mexicans to date (with the odd Venezuelan thrown in). I guess that would make for a stay-warm fight if Spence wanted to stay busy while lining up a bigger fight, but got to wonder how the IBF comes up with a top 15 that doesn't include any of Thurman, Porter, Garcia, Pac, Bradley, Vargas or even Khan (if they really wanted to sc**** the bottom of the barrel).
With next highest rating being Collazo, if Spence had to vacate to take a more worthwhile opponent, we could be seeing Ocampo vs Collazo for the vacant belt. C'mon IBF, we know the alphabet belts are a joke anyway, but at least put one other recognised top 10 WW in your top 15.
