Canelo is a very good fighter. Not quite as good as you seem to think he is, and not mobile enough to have an easy fight against prime Martinez.

You don't need to be mobile how mobile was Marquez yet he was able to neutralize Pacquiao time after time with timing and counters. Manny the aggressive fighter time after time ran into counters and Marquez style was a nightmare for him. Canelo ain't moving nowhere the aggressive sergio will come to him and get timed just like we saw TONS of mediocre fighters do to him to put him on the canvas. Fighters not as skilled as canelo landed a lot on him he is there with his hands down waiting to be hit.

I've always favored Canelo in that one, Martinez steps into his shots which made him a far more respectable puncher than Lara or Trout but at the same time more susceptible to the counters. I always found it odd how people never questioned Martinez' stamina, just because he knows how to dig deep does not mean it wasn't there, I still remember the Macklin, Murray and Pavlik fights.

I like Canelo's body punching and countering in this one.

He's not good enough to time sergio but Macklin was? Chavez was able to time him in the 12th? Murray able to time him? Sergio was a terrible defensive fighter hit a lot his entire career. Bum Chavez landed ALMOST 200 punches on Sergio while he couldn't land a glove on Canelo only 71 punches landed. You say truggled with Trout yet he put him on his azz for the first time and making him QUIT in a open scoring fight. Trout is the opposite style fighter as Sergio. Did you see Trout keeping his hands down running head first into shots? And Trout is not chinny never been down before he fought Canelo and fought Charlo never went down. Struggling is Sergio against Cintron or Macklin, Murray almost getting laid out by Chavez. Exactly he's a natural 154lb fighter actually small for 160 and would be smaller then Canelo and he didn't beat everyone at 160 just hear the GGG fan girls cry that he ducked him. Canelo doing something that Sergio REFUSED to do fight GGG.

Canelo would knock Martinez out in my opinion. Canelo improves with every fight. Martinez fought a 160 pound Chavez and beat the hell out of him but Chavez almost KOed Martinez in the last round. Canelo beat the hell out of a 164 pound Chavez and won every round. One common opponent doesn't mean much but I have seen them both fight many times. Canelo has an iron jaw and I doubt Martinez could hurt him. I know Canelo would hurt Martinez and knock him out.

The 2010 Martinez that beat Pavlik and Williams beats Canelo as well possibly by stoppage. People kill me acting like Canelo is a big puncher. Compare the job an older Martinez did on Chavez's face to Canelo's work. Canelo doesn't have the punching power of prime Pavlik or the work rate of prime Williams and 2010 Martinez bested them both.
