Chavez landed 178 punches at a high 46% clip all night. Could only land 71 punches on canelo at 23%. Sergio too hittable for a sharp puncher like canelo. Would run face first into a nasty timed countered like the one that Marquez put Manny to sleep with.
Canelo nearly lost to trout and lara, and got schooled by floyd. All boxers. aint no way he beating martinez

Those guys don't fight with their hands down and have a better chin then sergio. Any fighter who gets hit almost 200 times by Chavez is not beating canelo. Lara destroys sergio too by the way. Again just watch the video look how sloppy sergio fights watch him run into counters by bums and get dropped. Chavez aint the only guy to put him down. How many times is he running in off balance canelo is too sharp and quick handed to do that non sense against. Sergio had a lot of Gamboa in him where he had terrible fundamentals leaving his chin out there. He was quick but very sloppy and he gasses out late in fights.

The Sergio that fought Chavez was past prime. His legs were WAY past prime.

The Sergio who fought Paul Williams and Kelly Pavlik would be a tough fight for Canelo. I'd love to see it.

Sergio was a late bloomer getting beat by margartito and fighting bums as a journey man in the early 2000s. Didnt finally start fighting at the world class stage for belts till what 2009-2010 so if he was past his prime when he fought Chavez on 2012 so you tell me what version from that 3 year stretch is beating Canelo and I will point to fights of him getting tagged and fighting sloppy with his hands down.

Sergio was 37 when he fought Chavez, and his legs were shot, especially after the Macklin fight that preceded Chavez. That kind of athleticism can age overnight. Especially on the knees, trust me.

The 2010 version of Sergio against Canelo is the one I'd love to see. Would be a great fight.

Pavlik was a drunk who had already lost to Hopkins and was in the middle if a tailspin in his personal life. And p-will beat him the first fight. Sergio during that same stretch struggled with Kermit cintron and guys like Macklin and Murray. Too chinny, and no defense you can not have those traits against canelo and think you going to beat him. Canelo would time him and catch him coming in. Bum Macklin landed 40% of his power shots on sergio. Canelo is a million times better, faster with his counters if he landed 40% what you think Canelo is doing?
