He'd have serious problems, as most would with Sergio at his best. Sergio is very mobile, has excellent stamina, and his skill set matches well with Alvarez's weaknesses.

People looking at the Lara fight and thinking 'Maravilla has the same skillset as him and offers more offensively' are hugely mistaken, they fight nothing alike and Maravilla being a more offensive-minded fighter plays right into Canelo's hands.

Maravilla was a very good fighter, but he was very fundamentally flawed and relied on his athleticism and reflexes a lot, he's not technically as good as somebody like Lara.

Martinez hands down style would work for few styles, but not Canelo's. Canelo would absolutely demolish Martinez.

Canelo is too poised, patient and too good of a timer and too good of a combination puncher, too good of defense to lose to someone as defensively careless as Martinez. To beat Canelo you have to be defensively on point and make him come forward. Martinez did not bring that to the ring, he was so careless, hence the countless knockdowns.

Counting all KD's official and unofficial, Martinez was KD'ed 3x by Cotto (1 more time in the 9th which was a terrible call by the ref calling it a KD when it clearly wasn't), 2x by Murray (one was robbed from Murray), Chavez Jr 1x, Macklin 1x, Pavlik 1x, Williams 1x.
