Chavez Jr barely throwing any punches & not even trying. Then the WWE-esque announcement after the fight that GGG-Canelo was a done deal before this fight.

If you're a casual fan and you don't know the history of the GGG-Canelo fight and Chavez Jr career, then this would look fishy to you. This is the first Canelo fight since Floyd that a lot of people threw fight parties and made an event around the fight. A lot of people I was around who are casual fans thought this fight was a fix.

Not a good look for the sport to have people coming away thinking that. Another black eye for boxing.

What confuses me most is this is arguably the lowest punch output I've ever seen from such a young guy, it's not like being 31yo makes you old overnight you still should have most of your youth...
Did he overtrain, was making 164.5lbs too much to ask for him after all?
Such a weird night, it wasn't a fight at all!

There were so many opportunities for Chavez to actually throw but he didn't, in fact, a 41yo Wladimir Klitschko at ****ing heavyweight showed more punch activity and we all know clearly Wladimir is old and his punch output has dipped fairly significantly.

There have been embarrassing PPV's before but this one definitely goes up there in the top list and oh yeah the WWE-sque announcement of the next fight was right out of Eddie Hearns textbook similar to the WladV.Josh announcement.

How cringy can Canelo be when the mic is put in front of his face?

I'm pissed at myself for buying into this fight. I feel like a dummy. My instincts told me this was a farce but I tricked myself into taking it as a serious fight. I can't even be mad at Oscar and Canelo and Chavez Jr. This is all my own fault.

If you don't watch a lot of boxing and the last Canelo fight you watched was against Floyd and the last Chavez Jr fight you watched was against Martinez then last night would look fishy to you wouldn't it?

No because i would have the common sense to realise that no fighter would choose to take a beating and embarrass himself over 12 rounds, when taking a dive would be a much better option.

Something was up. I don't care how "weak" you feel. You're still going to attempt to at least throw punches!

There were times where Chavez had Canelo on the ropes and just stood there without pulling the trigger.

On the other hand, Chavez Sr is too proud a man to let his son throw a fight and embarrass the name.

Chavez never had Canelo on the ropes. Canelo had Caenlo on the ropes trying to bait Chavez in, Chavez wasn't biting.

This fight was a joke from the offset. I see no reason anyone had to buy it unless they were Mexican and invested in Canelo and Chavez's stories

We boxing fans are talking about the GGG-CANELO fight while most casual fans don't know who GGG is and walked away from the tv disgusted before the announcement was even made and talking about the fight bring rigged. I'm speaking from what I saw at the event hall I was at yesterday. And the music was loud so people couldn't hear what was said after the fight.
