Finally! Canelo isn't...

Meantime, Danny can raise his own profile with an easier opponent, or maybe go after the WBO belt and BJS ... the man Golovkin ducked!Comment

The Ring is just the GBP Company paper and should be viewed as such.
Transnational Boxing rankings has just changed the status of the MW title yesterday. That's way to late according to precedent (Erdei). They should correct themselves and acknowledge the Winner of the Golovkin-Jacobs bout as lineal champion. This American bias is disgusting.Comment

Seriously. That's bs. How can they take some random lipservice as gospel? They need to use objective criteria's as they did in the Erdei case. Now they use the date of which canelo was asked a question by Jake Donovan. What if he had asked that question 2, 3 or 6 months ago? This is rubbish.
To become champ #1 mw needs to fight #2 mw..... but ONLY after some journo asks a question... LMAO!!!
Boxing is in shambles in our time period... About as clean and tidy as a butcher's slaughterhouse.Comment

No, technically, for a promotional team representing a fighter that have displayed interest in acquiring all the belts, where their interest would stilll be in fighting a non title holder in Alvarez creates a loophole...especially since there's a champion in the WBO..
Therefore it wouldn't be Jacobs. It would be GGG vs Saunders undeniably, but team GGG refused to pursue it.
I understand the point he's making there, but I don't agree with it, because Canelo was still the TBRB lineal champion when GGG decided to go after him instead of BJS.Last edited by kafkod; 04-19-2017, 08:32 AM.Comment

It's just crazy. Canelo says, "I'm not a MW" and gives up his WBC MW title belt, then he moves down to fight for a title at SWW. By all sane criteria, that should have been enough for any ranking board to stop recognising him as lineal MW champion.Comment

I think what he's saying is that because GGG ignored an opportunity to fight BJS for the WBO title, presumably because he's waiting for Canelo instead, he doesn't deserve to be recognised as lineal champ by TBRB.

I still don't get it. If Mirko Troll Cop had a point, I'm sure he would have been more specific now.Comment

Exactly. He said he wasn't ready for the 160 lb division. That's why he fought in the 155 lb division (!) and moved Down to the 154 lb division. Clearly these objective moves should have been enough for anybody to realize that the MW lineal title was vacated.Comment
