What difference does it make to Chavez if Canelo comes in at 174lbs, 185lbs or 225lbs on fight night? Canelo is going to light him up at whatever weight they fight. I have a message for Chavez Jr.: Real Mexicans don't whine and complain. They simply get the job done.

Chavez Jr. disrespects the sport, his trainers, his father and most of all himself. He should get on his knees and thank GB and Canelo for plucking him out of well deserved irrelevancy and signing to fight him on May 6. As far as Memo goes, the less said about that cheat and poor excuse for a human being the better.

Smith couldn't even make weight his last fight a week ago and lara, trout, kirkland have all fought at heavier weights in their careers then canelo has ever fought at (155). And look at guys like charlo these are all huge fighters who if back in the day where you had same day weighins would not be fighting at 154. Lara 10 years ago turned pro fighting at 158 phuk out of here he is a small 154lber.
Whoa. Calm down angry dude. OK I hold my hands up - Lara may not be significantly smaller than the others, but the point is made 16, 17 and even 20lbs weight gain amongst the top JMWs is not out of the ordinary which was kind of what I was getting at. You manage to respond as if you think that was some kind of attack on Canelo or yourself, which it wasn't, though I apologise if it sounded that way.

Gotta say though I'm amongst the many who think that there should be a return to same day weigh-ins. Doesn't make sense to me that guys should be able to gain an advantage based on the ability to gain and lose large amounts of weight in a short time rather than on their skills and abilities in the ring. With regards to JMW I think basically most of these guys would more naturally be fighting at MW but the landscape of the sport (specially in the US) with JMW being a much more lucrative division made the price of that extra dehydration worthwhile for the opportunities it could potentially afford.

I agree with that but until they change the rules you are seeing virtually every world class fighter fighting 1-2 weight classes lower then where they would if they had fight day weighins. I just think it's hilarious that people act like this only applies to canelo. Cutting weight and rehydrating is the game everyone is playing as long as you make the contract weight I don't want to hear excuses. Last of all from anyone in chavez camp where they have routinely failed to make weight and have been busted taking banned PEDs to make weight. Memo is a dirtbag banned from working in other sports for cheating with PEDs. Canelo is by far the smaller fighter. But they making excuses because they know chavez going to get lit up.

And no proof he has EVER gained 20lbs the next day after making weight. Let alone that he can do that after moving up 2 weight classes to fight chavez. Don't be ridiculous
I think the biggest gain post weigh in I ever heard about was Lou Devalle against Roy Jones, something like 16lbs, and it didn't help him. All it shows is how dried out he was.

Your logic is impeccable regarding Marquez. I am glad you agree that Jr. is not much of a threat.

Smart Mexicans give up their title to avoid getting ripped off and focus on making millions of dollars more. In case you have not noticed, GGG's is not much of a draw and it is not going to get better for him. He desperately needs a fight with Canelo to try to grab the attention of the people and slow down his rapid decline.

Wouldn't surprise me, but I don't think he will. Canelo cuts 20+ lbs at 154 because he has to. That doesn't mean his cut at 164 will be the same. He will have more muscle mass but will otherwise be the same. So say he usually comes in at 175, he adds 5 lbs of muscle (which will serve him well at 160) so he will be around 180.

cause he is not killing himself to make 155
