    You're probably right.

fighting orthodox instead of southpaw and giving up those early rounds was even bigger in the haunted house of hagler imo...

I disagree. Yes, he could've fought differently and might have won more clearly. One judge had him winning as did many fans and journalists. So its hard to say the way he fought was "wrong" or haunted him.

Agree, Leonard was the more skilled fighter but calling Hagler a nobody in comparison is unwarranted IMO. I'd also rate Hagler above Bhop as a middleweight.

I hope your guitar chops are more substantial than your appreciation of an ATG in Marvin Hagler. Actually, you probably know that Jimi was essentially a seminal composer/musician who played guitar.

All one needs to know about that fight is

                - one VEGAS judge gave Hagler only 2 rds
                - Leonard got clearly beat by Hearns afterwards but was gifted a draw
                - in that Hearns 2 fight, Leonard got away with low blows and after the bell hitting in all impunity

Amazing people still cling to that Hagler-Leonard robbery; he did better than expected, but he didn't take the belt from the champion, not by a country mile

Leonard comes into third place of the Fab 4, with Duran and Hagler above him

I am glad he walked away because SRL was back to his usual f@g acting about fighting and Hagler saw no reason to be part of the circus anymore.
Hagler got 8 million for his fight with thomas hearns and he got 12 million for leonard which was 1 million more than leoanrd got which was 11 million......when a fighter comes back after 1 fight in 5 years and competes let alone beats an active middlweight champion that alone makes him a notch above him plus he also moved up 5 weights for world titles so yes he is a notch above im affraid to say...the same reasons why golovkin got slated for fighting brook is exactly what marvin hagler did....duran a lightweight , hearns and leonard a welterweight and john mugabi a light middleweight...but unlike brook....leonard pulled it off....BTW the hagler hearns ring was only a 1ft smaller and as i said there were plenty of occasions where leonard stood up to haglers best shots at close range or on the ropes....6,8,9 and 11 for example and hagler couldnt hurt him so the ring is just another excuse.
Most of the guys on here were not even old enough to remember it... i do and i won money on it and another false statement was leonard refused to give hagler a rematch..even before the fight leonard said it was just 1 fight and that was that....but it was only a year after the fight and leonard offered him a revenge fight so again that disproves leonard refused to give hagler a rematch.....leonard might be an a$$hole but his abilty is pretty much unrivalled

Hagler won, lost on the score cards Leonard ducked the rematch.

Jacobs won, lost on the score cards GGG ducks the rematch.

Long list of other fighters that done the same.

Happen back then, happens today. Nothing new.

Duran bested him in his prime, fair and square.

Hearns would have beaten him the first time if the fight went 12 rds; Leonard had to wait fatigue to set in before showcasing his "ability"...

He got clearly beat by a shot Hearns the second time.

He got gifted the Hagler fight.

                      So much for his ability...
