Wrong. Hagler only started having success once Leonard slowed down and became more stationary and less active in the second half of the fight. And Hagler boxing out of an orthodox stance had never been an issue before because he was a natural switch-hitter.

And what Aaron Pryor situation? The one where Pryor ducked two offers to fight Leonard?
The funny thing is ham..the same posters that are saying thag hagler deserved to win are the ones who said mayweather beat pacquaio...yet pacquaio was the aggresser..threw the harder punches and mayweather ran all night...kind of double standards don't you think......ok lets set the record straight with them once and for all...hagler almost instantly after the fight walked away from boxing....he went through marriage problems with bertha and then went on a vacation to try to save his marriage....there was no serious talk of a rematch on haglers side and leonards side.....hagler then upped and moved to Italy to start a life there...its in black and white on box rec that hagler never asked for a rematch and thats coming from the head of HBO Seth Abraham.....they say it should have been a 15 round fight and yet haglers two previous fights were 12 round contests against hearns and mugabi...and it was for the WBC title and they stopped 15 rounders in 1984....even in the 10 and 11 th round leonard beat him....he won the compu stats and 14 out of the 24 main media publications had leonard the winner with hagler getting 7 and 3 scored it a draw and yet they still think hagler won....no way in hell did hagler beat leoanrd and my score card was 7-4 for leonard with 1 draw...haglers fans are very bitter

Bringing up Floyd/Manny is ridiculous. So We thought Marvin won,so did a lot of other people. As I said my only gripe is the 118-110 score.

Why is it ? Floyd never engaged all night...pacquaio threw the harder punches and he also threw more.....under that same criteria you had hagler beating leonard......but thats not the case fella is it....did i think pacuqio beat floyd no i didn't...did i think it was a close fight..yes i did ....hagler lost more rounds than leoanrd but i agrre fella it was a closer fight than the jo jo guerra score card

i do remember well at the time hagler wanted the rematch it was just a case of he was sick of dealing with leonards bull**** he knew leonard would play mind games and make diva demands he was just over it , as others have said leonard was a great fighter but an egotistical *******.

I think some people discount how important familiarity and connections make fights happen. Few people know how close Leonard and Hearns were outside the ring. Tommy used to spar with Leonard when he was a amateur and early in his career. Yes Tommy was a beast, but I believe their history made making that fight easier. Now I don't know about the Duran situation but he was a small fighter coming up, you never know how he was perceived by SRL.

Pryor was definitely not in the "in group" from this bunch. He beat Tommy in the national Golden Glove final (video is on youtube btw) then fought for team USA, then went pro. Several Kronk Gym OGs from Detroit talk about how Pryor was kept out of the mix at WW. Some even claimed SRL started at WW to avoid the fight. I wasn't there (wasn't even born yet), but I trust these guys opinion. Timing was an issue but there seemed to be more than a few opportunities to make that fight.

Most people don't know the press conference incident with Pryor was staged by Leonard and Pryor.

Pryor sparred numerous times with ray leonard as an amatuer...in fact they were on the same american boxing team.....i know and so do you that leonard would not have been concerned with facing pryor....there was talk that there fight was planned for the end of 1982 but leonard suffered a detached retina and that fght never came true...pryor was a handful for sure but he was chinny and hit the deck numerous times as a lighwelterweight....leonard like he did with hearns wouod have knocked him out
