That is sort of a coin flipper fight to me. They are very evenly matched. I think Chavez edges Mayweather out at 140 pounds and Mayweather edges Chavez at 147 pounds. Chavez was never a welterweight while Mayweather developed into a full sized welterweight. At a 144 pound catchweight flip a coin.

Meldrick Taylor was soundly outboxing Chavez in their first fight.

Floyd could do the same with the added benefit that his defense is far superior to Meldrick's.

I'm not a Floyd Fan, but Maidana won maybe 4 rds, he rarely landed many clean punches, Cotto won 3 rds with one more debatable. Castillo almost deserved a draw or a close win. A pick em fight, Floyd not in his prime. Prime Floyd handles him like Whitaker did.

meldrick taylor was much faster than even prime floyd. meldrick taylor was faster than Zab Judah too who was faster than Floyd.

Sr was out of his prime already and still stopped Taylor. And did so again in the rematch.

Maidana, Cotto and Castillo all of them pushed Mayweather to a close fight, none of them was as good at putting pressure as Chavez, people usually compare Whitaker and Mayweather because they shared many attributes, but they fought nothing alike.

Well if that's the case Floyd wins because Dr La Hoya beat down Chavez sr to a bloody pulp. Floyd ain't never been beat like that even as a old man

It would be a good fight. And I know Whitaker and Mayweather are not the same stylistically, but both had great defense. So I would give the edge to Mayweather in a close fight, like 7 rounds to 5 for Mayweather. (Mayweather would be pissing blood after the fight though)

I think a prime Roberto Duran would beat Mayweather.
