would prime JC Chavez Sr beat Floyd Mayweather

Would early 1990s Chavez Sr beat late 2000s Floyd Mayweather at 140lbs or 147lbs or even better a catchweight at 144lbs....

stylistically Sr beats FLoyd. Floyd's style CAN be smothered but he's never fought an elite smothering fighter like Sr to an even lesser extent Margarito.

Maidana and Castillo showed this and they are B-C class swarmers.

Floyd Mayweather Sr knew this as well. He talked about Kell Brook vs Golovkin in the way that he knows about his son's style.

"Kell is a good boxer. But Triple G. Has a punch. annnnd...................... He will SMOTHER YOU."

that is the style to beat boxers. Especially against Mayweather's pillows.

you can't be trying to look for angles from the outside and let the boxers reset like canelo. it doesn't matter how big canelo is, he was never going to beat a technician due to his style. The smothering style is the only way to beat a technician.

My mind always says Mayweather in this match up, but it wasn't a coincidence the success of Maidana, Cotto and Castillo using pressure against Floyd, Chavez was better than all of them.

              50-50 fight in 130.135 and 140 pounds.

Examples like "Chávez vs Withaker or Randall" are ******, Chávez was out of his prime.

based on the opponents that gave floyd the most trouble I'd say chavez beats him decisively. even though he beat them all Floyd never looked comfortable against pressure. augustus, jesus chavez, castillo, maidana, cotto. and im not saying hatton would've won but without cortez as the ref that fight would've been much more competitive. chavez chin was iron, cut off the ring better than anybody and punches came nonstop from all angles.
