Originally posted by OnePunch View PostHe isnt going to rematch Jacobs next, for a multitude of reasons:
1. He wants to fight in June in Kazakhstan, and there is no way they would ever be able to make a deal with Jacobs on that timeline, if Jacobs would even agree to go overseas
2. Next month I think GGG will have an IBF mando due. His only choice for his next fight (if he wants to keep all the belts) is the unification with Saunders, or an IBF mando.
3. The haters here are already predicting "89k" ppv buys or whatever, so where exactly do they think the money would come from to pay Jacobs for a rematch? Which in itself is funny because on one hand they say nobody watched or cares about GGG and he is the BBB side, but on the other hand they claim there is this huge groundswell of demand (from who exactly?) for a rematch lol
If I were in charge of GGGs career, I would go for the unification with Saunders in June, and then go for Canelo in Sept. After that, it would be next to impossible to keep the belts together, so that would be the time to either do the Jacobs rematch, fight Eubanks, or move up to 168.
Bottom line is no matter what he does, the haters will whine.
If he fights Saunders for the unification, they will say he is ducking Jacobs and Canelo
If he waits till Sept and fights Canelo, they will say he is ducking Jacobs.
If he rematched Jacobs, they will say he is ducking Canelo
So no matter what, they will cry...........
I would expect him not to rematch Jacobs and risk the Canelo fight. Business wise the best move is BJS then Canelo or wait for Canelo.
I am not going to say any of that but it is completely fair IMO for those that do not like GGG to hold him to the standard his fans established years ago.

The author of this article is not in tune with the current state of boxing. He assumes Jacobs would want an immediate rematch. I rooted for Jacobs, but let's face it, he's a Haymon fighter. It will most likely take a year for him to revisit this fight, which has become typical in the Haymon stable.

117-111 for Golovkin, he commanded the ring much better than Jacobs but people want to give it to Jacobs because he is American.

Here's a thought, let Danny Jacobs fight Charlo next. Charlo is the same height, will come in just as heavy, and is equal in terms of skill and ability. If he's not careful, maybe next time GGG demands a rehydration clause and force you to come into the ring at 170 or less.

He (his team) would be ******ed to not try and get Saunders in June. There is no telling what is going to happen in May with Canelo, and if he can get Canelo next or not. Golden Boy has played so many games that their word is meaningless. And who knows, Canelo could lose, he could get injured, it could be a tremendous fight that would make a rematch marketable. In any event, K2 should go ahead and get Saunders if they can, and THEN see whats what after that. They need to worry about GGGs career, and quit worrying about what Canelo might or might not do.
As for Jacobs, it took almost 6 months to get the fight made, and that was when he was a mando. I cant even imagine what kind of nonsense they would face this time around. Now thats not to say they shouldnt consider a rematch with Jacobs after the Canelo situation plays out, but lets not kid ourselves about that being some easy-peasy fight to make.
