Why would a LHW need tune-ups to fight a MW?

Did SRL need tune-ups before coming out of retirement and moving up to MW for Hagler?

After seeing Ward getting decked and schooled by Kovalev, I'm convinced that Andre would have lost to Golovkin, and he and Virgil knew it, which is why they made sure not to ever send GGG an offer until he was fully booked and there was no way he could accept it.

The challenge was made for 168 stop trying to move the goal posts. Kova signed the same deal with the tune ups.

Clear duck by ggg and now we know why.

Irrelevant nonsense. You and I saw the Jacobs vs GGG fight. Don't you agree with me that GGG is weak? What say you?

That's why this weak guy needs to fight the great Andre SOG Ward. Doe.

That is a completely ridiculous. Polls on this site are split about even.

It's disgusting ggg fans attribute scoring of this fight to expectations. The people that think ggg lost did so based solely on the fight. He didn't lose because he didn't get a ko.

Ggg fans That think he won bring up Race, culture, nationality, compubox, pre fight expectations, and weight more than they do what actually happened in the ring during the rounds of the fight.

You guys kept telling Floyd fans and Ward fans to accept that people felt they lost. You and other ggg fans should follow your own advice.

I blame HBO more than I do ggg. From the time Lampley said the fight fans wanted was ggg/canelo and not Ward/ggg, you knew they figured Ward would beat him.

they want an undefeated ggg to face canelo rob maximize the revenue for that fight.

Yeah, Kovalev, who is a LHW, not a MW like GGG, did sign the same deal .. and look what happened to him ...

$2million purse to Wards $5million, robbed by the judges, and left hanging around kicking his heels while Ward tries to blackmail his promoter into giving him more money than he signed a contract accepting.

Anybody who thinks GGG should have given up his mando position with the WBC to move up and be pissed around and hugged to death by Andre Ward at 172lbs - which is what would have happened, as Ward couldn't even make 168 himself - for comparative peanuts, is out of his tiny mind.

How far back can we go with these theories? if we're going 5, can we go 8 or 9?

In that case, i think whoever is no.1 at SMW is there by default because Calzaghe left the division and then retired. Maybe whoever is no.1 at LHW might be there by default too for the same reason as Calzaghe was considered lineal champ and retired.

Let's not stop there, Lennox Lewis only retired about 14 years ago..
160 was abandoned by the top 4/5 fighters around the same time period, this hasn't occurred in any other division. Wright retired, JT and AB moved up to fight in the Super 6, Hopkins moved up.

The quality of 160 suffered, however it did still have Pavlik, Martinez, and up and coming Pirog.

Pavlik was ruined by a guy not in his weight class, Hopkins. Became addicted to alcohol and drugs.

Martinez took down the version of Pavlik B-Hop ruined, but wound up blowing out his knee vs JCC and was ruined.

Pirog was the one to takeover at his young age, but was forced into early retirement due to an injury.

That's why 160 is so weak, it had 7 of it's elite fighters leave, 9 if you're counting Green and Miranda, contenders that also made the jump. This sort of regression rarely happens in boxing.

It's barely starting to heat up with up and comers like Derevyachenko, Murata, Quigley, Charlo etc. HW was the same with Wilder, Ortiz, Fury, etc.
