When the fight was made, Jacobs committed to fighting for all of Golovkin's belts. By ditching the IBF challenge, Jacobs will save himself the sanctioning fee that will go with the IBF, which might prove to be a wise decision because Golovkin is a heavy favorite to win.

It's funny how those tweets only appear after he misses the weigh in. Jacobs even said he was bringing home ALL the belts.

GGG is not giving up his belt on the scales. Stevens had the option of skipping. I don't know if he would've skipped it or not. GGG doesn't have that option. Comprende?

Abel expected GGG to come in at 170 so don't think this had any effect on him.

He changed his mind. GGG still has to weigh in on the second day regardless of what Jacobs chooses to do.

“The 30-day negotiations period has started,” says WBA President Gilberto Mendoza Jr. “They have 120 days to do the fight.”

Should negotiations between Teams Golovkin and Jacobs collapse, the fight will go to purse bid.

            You're confusing things.

Jacobs is the WBA mandatory, but the WBA didn't have to enforce WBA rules and purse bid because they came to an agreement. This fight satisfies Golovkins mandatory requirement.

Voluntary agreement doesn't mean Jacobs is a 'voluntary'.. do I really need to explain that?

If Jacobs didn't want to fight for the IBF (and pay fees) he could have used his mandatory position as leverage, as he's guaranteed a WBA title shot. But he didn't. It's bizarre.

Let me explain it again for the slow people in the back

Lemieux agreed to fight for an eliminator that requires a 2nd day weigh-in. If Lemieux informed Stevens that he wouldn't be weighing in the second day Stevens could've skipped the second day weigh-in as well.

Jacobs is the mandatory for a title that doesn't require a 2nd day weigh-in. If Jacobs informed GGG that he's not weighing in the second day as the IBF champ GGG still has to weigh in under the limit the second day. He doesn't have a choice if he wants to keep the belt.
You know it is possible to fight for one belt right? Like Jacobs could have just said I'm the WBA mando, that's all I want to fight for and then this fight would not have been sanctioned by the WBC or the IBF. However, if he did that, a second day weigh in would not have been necessary for GGG, bc his IBF title wasn't on the line making your argument completely wrong. The fact is the only reason the IBF came off the table is because he didn't show up. Everthing he did is exactly the same as Lemiuex did.

Lemieux did agree to fight for one belt, the IBF regional belt which required a second day weigh in. Jacobs agreed to fight for two belts, WBC & WBA, neither requires a second day weigh in. GGG has to defend his IBF title. If Jacobs said he wasn't fighting for the IBF 3 months ago it doesn't matter because GGG still has to defend the IBF and make the second day weigh in. He has no other option. Well he could drop the belt but we all know he isn't going to do that.

He never paid any fees. Once again, where are you getting this fake news from?

this is too ****** to be posted. so GGG has to make weight while jacobs doesn't?

or both, lemieux and jacobs cheated, or they didn't. which is it?
