What gameplan/boxing style defeats Mayweather?

his dilemma is he knew he could trick silly fanboys into continually buying his crappy fights. why take a risk? prime marg, cotto, and pac should have been sure fire fights but he fu-cked up all 3 and it was all on him. anyone who isn't a fanboy can see that clearly.the topic of the discussion is, what gameplan/style could beat Floyd Mayweather, not, why didn't Manny take the test, or why did Shane cop out on a toothache....
yeah, there were fighters @ ww who were at their peak, or more fresher versions of themselves that for whatever reason Floyd didn't fight that version, point blank...and nobody wants to hear the excuses because Floyd brought the big $, just like Ali, Oscar, Sugar Ray, and those guys have plenty of prime vs. prime fights that were made with no problem...what was Floyd's dilemma?
analyzing why and all that mess always seems to drag out the worst in these Floyd fans, because the discussion quickly digresses into who was more responsible for the fights being made, and not only is it tired, weak, and grossly biased towards Floyd, but totally irrelevant...Comment

hmmm yea and who else struggled with a badly past prime oscar...This discussion was not about Floyd's weight, it's about what type of game plan or style beats Floyd.
To answer your question though...no, Trinidad imo gets his ears boxed off. Trinidad struggled with Oscar, and Oscar was a great fighter, but Floyd would not have been so foolish to take his foot off the gas in the most important fight of his life, he certainly would've had the cardio to keep going as well.
Nostalgic thinking cannot be used here. One cannot say, because Trinidad, Oscar, Leonard, etc, etc were great fighters of their era and sooooo "beloved" they would've beaten Floyd. Leonard had a hard time with Floyd's old man, and Jr is a MUCH better overall fighter than him.
I stated my opinion early in this thread that Winky would've beaten Floyd. At 154 or 147 Floyd was not strong enough to get through his guard and his constant jab.Comment

ok cool...I could make a case for Trinidad, Oscar, Sugar, Hearns, Norris, Whitaker, Duran, maybe even Benitez beating Floyd Mayweather @ 147, and yes you can say because those guys were the great fighters of their era, that they would beat Floyd, because all of those guys have a prime atg, or at least a prime HOF fighter that they beat @ 147 to make it stick, and Floyd just doesn't man...This discussion was not about Floyd's weight, it's about what type of game plan or style beats Floyd.

I know what Floyd did in this era of boxing looks great to cats who pretty much only watched this era of ww's and boxing, but when you have personally watched previous eras of ww's and the overall depth that was in them, and how many great fighters a fighter had to go through to just be called the legit champ, you would have a different perspective...Comment

Why the hell would you think he avoided cotto? Cotto BARELY got by Mosley, Cotto was doing well vs marga******o, and then he gassed...and are you even considering that Floyd was more prime at that point as well? He had ZERO need to duck Cotto. Floyd literally had Cotto beat in every way @ 140 except MAYBE for power punches. Speed, defense, movement, counterpunching, and also chin. At 140 Cotto gets stopped by Floyd. At 147 Cotto gets stopped, at 154 it was enough of Cotto at a comfortable weight and Floyd was also NOT in his prime, which is why that uppercut that almost knocked him down, didn't knock him out.Comment

Someone with speed, size / arm length advantage, power, fast feet, solid jab, has the ability to adjust, uses intelligent pressure.
But that's Floyd in his prime. Now? I think someone like Spence or Bud gives him a tough night and funny enough Floyd praises both guys a lot.Comment

why would i think the guy who said cotto lives too far away and thats why i cant fight him would be avoiding cotto? why would i think the guy who said i cant fight cotto because hes with arum would be avoiding cotto? why would i think a guy who said cotto isnt a big enough ppv star would be avoiding cotto? why would i think a guy who retired instead of facing cotto when they were the 2 biggest ppv stars in boxing(besides hoya) would avoid cotto? hmmm i don't know i guess im just a cotto fanboy or a floyd hater. those are all legit reasons not to fight a huge star and one of the best fighters in boxing. Why the hell would you think he avoided cotto?
