What a crazy and fun fight! This card was pretty good top to bottom. Paulie Malignaggi almost even got a knockdown and hurt his opponent.

I'd agree to a point, but I'd say Haye did fit that criteria at Cruiser. He's never been a stand-out HW. Still, he is leagues better than Bellew.

Injury or no injury, (and for me it was definitely an injury that finished the fight) Haye looked awful. He was swinging away like butterbean, his timing was off, his jab was poor, he really didn't catch Bellew with anything significant. Bellew looked like he had the better timing and speed.


I really thought we'd see enough of the old Haye for this to be a walk in the park. but his natural timing and speed were absent, replaced by a heavier, lumbering fighter. I thought Bellew would look the heavier fighter on his feet but it was Haye.

If Haye wants to carry on, which he shouldn't, he needs to get back down to 210.

Agreed regarding Haye: he was never that good as a heavyweight.

One has to be careful when comparing how good fighters are too specifically imo. A solid C level guy can do a lot against a guy who is vulnerable, in a way that a guy like Mayweather, leonard, Duran would never be vulnerable. Now we could perhaps think that a B level guy would have a better chance...but it does not really work that way.

Bellew did take Haye's punch... and yes....that is ironic, perhaps we should have never seen that have to happen, But it shows some resistance and determination.

I agree and disagree fella...cruiserweight he was a very skilled and hard punching fighter and few would have beat him..as a heavyweight he was to small and could never compete with the heavies of today and we saw that with the wlad fight ,the moment he moved up to heavyweight and bulked up was the moment he starteed to get injured ....if he had stayed at cruiserweight and never got suckered into the glizty show biz world he wouod have been a champion for a long time...haye as a cruiserweight was immensely skilled IMO

People on this forum need to get real. It should be about boxing fans discussing boxing but always ends up being about hate, racism or which countries we're all from. Any idiot can see that the injury decided the fight. Haye deserves credit for continuing as long as he did. Bellew deserves credit for taking some decent shots. There are people on here who talk sense but you have to wade through 10 pages of rubbish to find them.

Being able to absorb the punches decided the fight.

The "injury" is a convenient excuse.
