Just recently David Haye stated that boxers who always want a unnatural weight advantage, and aspire to fight way below their natural weights must be bullies! I don't believe that. You'll probably have the same amount of guys or more entering the ring at an unhealthy weight cuz everyone is on the fight at the lowest weight possible mindset. You are just going back to the old way, when I think stats suggest more people died in the ring & I'd assume fighting at unhealthier weights than boxers do now played a part in that, but thats a whole other argument.

The key thing thats never been done is determining a healthy weight for a boxer like they do in wrestling at some levels of the sport (& where guys dying & risking long term damage due to weight loss is a bigger problem than in boxing). You need to take into account the health of the kidneys & healthy body fat levels. If you aren't looking at those things (among others up for discussion) everything is bs & a half measure at best.

I mean as a fan of George Carlin's the kid who eats the most marbles doesn't get to grow up & have kids of his own survival of the fittest way of thinking I kinda agree with your overall opinion, but I mean you can't just stand idle when you know certain things are dangerous for a persons health & "a few of them will die" as you are collecting a check as promoters, commissions, alphabet groups & others do,

And I mean part of making boxing more mainstream again in this p#ssified culture in the US is going to require things that make the fighters safer & some of that involves protecting them from themselves in a sport that has a low barrier of entry & can offer you millions of dollars for your services at the highest levels.

I said BMI-ish cuz I don't believe BMI isn't an end all fix for anything myself, but it is super simple & with some tweaks for specific body types I believe that it could be one of the tools to determine what weight one should be fighting at.

I do believe there are healthy body fat %'s & there are urine gravity tests that will greatly help determine healthy weights for boxers. And neither of those things mean anything to boxing commissions currently, but eventually when enough boxers & MMA guys die like has happened in wrestling they will figure out these are key things to look into & consider in determining who should be fighting & what weight they should be fighting at.

And Tyson never had to make weight so he's not really relevant.

When testing for PEDs if you have more fluid in your blood system (saline etc) it will lower the percentage of the PEDs, thus making it harder to detect

The specific gravity test makes sure that samples are not diluted. The sample has to pass the specific gravity test even if an IV is given.

IV infusions before sample collection could actually prolong the doping control sample process because it has a greater potential to produce multiple dilute samples.
