That's the thing that most people don't get..... GGG is half of the equation in regards to why people want to see this fight. Canelo needs him too, it's his only fight that has a real chance of doing a million + buys. There are a lot of fans that aren't interested in paying for upcoming fights of both guys but will fork over their $70 for Canelo vs GGG.
We don't know how well this fight will do, the possibilities in terms of buys are quite high and Golovkin deserves a deal that sees his earnings grow alongside the PPV numbers, how does Khan get a percentage but Golovkin doesn't?? .... what PPV had Khan sold or been involved in? ..... before anyone tells me Khan made less than 15 million, of course he did... it was a much smaller fight than Canelo vs GGG. Golovkin is a bigger draw than Khan as far as any US based fight is concerned, why is a better draw getting a proportionally worse deal?
Canelo and GBP just seem to send trash offers to whoever they aren't interested in fighting. Chavez Jr's career was literally in the bin before this fight which is why they could **** him in negotiations.
I'll say it again...... I have never heard of anyone accepting a flat fee in the biggest fight in the sport and I don't think it should start with Golovkin. Doesn't matter what he's made before this fight, he's a unified champion, consensus top 5 p4p fighter and Canelo's strongest B side option by far.
Everyone keeps focusing on the alleged $15 million number, as if thats the end-all be-all. Is Golden Boy demanding options on GGG? Is Golden Boy trying to limit GGGs revenue in a rematch?
There is much more to a deal like this then just the money. Some of the more ignorant posters here cant comprehend that, but I dont put you in that category. Believe me, if the deal was clean and as good as some people are claiming, it would have been accepted. I dont know why people are acting as if Golden Boy is now some kind of 503c1 charitable organization and is putting out such an incredible fair amazing offer.....lol
How do you know the exact reasons why the offer wasn't accepted. Is it at all possible that GGG and his team are just being greedy?
lol I know its not going to happen but what if ggg vs jacobs outsells nelo vs chavez jr in ppv buys? that 15 mil for a fight of this magnitude is bull****.this is the fight the public wants the biggest fight out there it would do over a million ppv buys easily.
I dont want the dough, because that wasnt the bet. The bet was to donate a c-note to the charity of the winners choice, and post a receipt. My chairty of choice is either the March of Dimes or the Lupus Foundation of America. You can pick whichever one you choose......

Anything is possible, sure, but the reality is that they could potentially LOSE money by switching to a revenue share vs a flat fee, if the event didnt meet expectations. What that tells me is that either they believe the event will do much better (as does Golden Boy or they wouldnt have offered that much to begin with), or the deal is cluttered with option demands or rematch language (I find this to be VERY likely)
And why is asking for a fair deal, based on usual common industry practices now considered "greedy"?

Very true and off the bat we know Oscar is full of **** which is why I hedge my statements with "allegedly " lol
I just look at this matchup on paper and can see GGGs total package with some percentage of upside totaling around $15 million regardless.
But that's only applicable if Oscar is not full of **** which is probably not likely.

Matter of fact is 15M is more than Golovkin deserves, I thought they would offer him 8M, why doesn't he take the ****ing fight??? Is it cause Canelo beat him in sparring?? According to Sergey Kovalev the fight was 50/50 when they sparred 7 years ago, Golovkin has aged since then and Canelo has improved, maybe he's scared of the fight, why not accept any of Canelo's offers?? He rejected the 155 offer, and now he's rejecting 15M at 160, wtf???
