Team golovkin would be ****** to risk a 15 million dollar flat fee just to get a percentage of a ppv fight that may do less than a million buys.

This ain't mayweather/Pacquiao. Canelo vs golovkin isn't guaranteed to do a million buys.

plus what's Golovkin's alternative? Keep fighting for 2 million dollars per fight? It would take golovkin at least 7 more fights to make 15 million dollars without canelo.

Canelo can fight cotto again or chavez again and make 8 figures. Golovkin has nobody to turn to to make 8 figures. Team canelo knows this and that is why they are playing hardball.

it's like floyd fighting de la hoya at 154. If he had his choice they would have fought at 147. But he had no choice if he wanted to share a ring with oscar and get that mainstream exposure. And floyd was p4p number 1 and still took the short end of the stick. The risk was worth the reward. Same applies for gennady. The risk is worth the reward.

sign the ****ing contract and let's get ready for mexican independence

like you said yourself, Canelo is no Floyd or Oscar. He doesnt sell a million buys on his own. Therefore he is in no position to play diva like Floyd and Oscar did, since he's not putting up their numbers.......

and just because the risk-reward ratio makes sense to YOU (based on knowing only ONE aspect of the deal), that doesnt mean its worth it to the parties involved.....

Loeffler should return the favor and publicize ALL the terms in the GBP offer. But he wont. He will still sit quietly in the corner and play the "Switzerland" role while Oscar and Canelo try to make him look like a clown day in and day out.

The BOSS move Loeffler could make here would be to secure the Saunders fight for June, and publicly withdraw from any further Canelo negotiations. Control all 4 belts, and if Canelo ever wants to win a middleweight belt then screw negotiating with those clowns, send it to purse bid. Even if Canelo petitions the sanctioning body for a better split, worse case scenario would be 50-50.

Im just so tired of this same nonsense day after day after day........
Billy Joe Saunders has already made it clear what his price is, and Loeffler has already made it clear that he's not willing to pau Saunders his price (with Saunders and his camp already believing that Alvarez is more than ready to pay their price).

why are you playing ignorant when that's been known for some time now? lol

        Interesting.......
Golovkin has been allegedly offered $10m+, on a fight that likely won't clear $50m at the end of the day. lol

There is much more to a deal like this then just the money. Some of the more ignorant posters here cant comprehend that, but I dont put you in that category. Believe me, if the deal was clean and as good as some people are claiming, it would have been accepted. I dont know why people are acting as if Golden Boy is now some kind of 503c1 charitable organization and is putting out such an incredible fair amazing offer.....lol
If Golden Boy truly was asking for options on Golovkin, or setting the numbers for a rematch short of what's reasonable, Steve Kim, Dan Rafael, or anyone tied to the Golovkin/HBO nexus, would've already cast the info out into the public by this point (on background, of course). You've apparently been involved with boxing for long enough to not understand at least that much.

Golden Boy has stated the offer was going to be a fair one, Golden Boy has stated that the offer was north of 8 figures, and Golden Boy has let it be known that the offer was for $15m with some unknown back-end on the fight, and K2 has yet to refute any of what Golden Boy has stated, without even a nary of comment from any background sources.

At some point, you've simply got to acknowledge the fact that K2 is seemingly set on cashing out Golovkin on this one fight, a fight that they're nowhere near as confident in winning than their fans are.

For the fight to get anywhere near a million PPV buys, you're going to have to draw in a ton of casual boxing fans, and neither guy is all that comfortable with marketing the fight in English or have anywhere near universal name ID (though Alvarez is almost there, following his fights with Floyd and Cotto).

the delusions on this site are hilarious.

Golovkin is being a diva just as much as Canelo. Any objective non fan boy can see it. The guy wants 20+ mil? This isn't that big of a fight and gg does not bring in big bucks like that

The flat fee is allegedly for $15m, on a fight that likely won't end up clearing $50m for the fighters at the end of the day.

Floyd and Oscar ended up splitting $100m on their fight, Floyd and Alvarez split $100m on their fight, and Floyd-Pacquiao, the most anticipated fight in modern history (can't really scale out the old stadium fights at the turn of the century, tbh) and at least a factor beyond what anyone could honestly imagine, had the fighters likely splitting $200m.

Alvarez-Golovkin is nowhere near as anticipated as any of those showdowns; if we're being honest about it, Alvarez-Golovkin likely isn't even as anticipated as Floyd-Maidana II was.

We are in THE EARLY STAGES of negotiations. If you enjoy the back and forth, than fine.

I don't anticipate negotiations to end until around May.
Outside of Golovkin-Jacobs topping 500k PPV buys, Alvarez has made his offer and it's on Golovkin and his camp to accept. Alvarez has been involved in enough money fights at this point that he's not going to negotiate against himself.

If Golovkin doesn't want the fight, Alvarez can fight Chavez Jr again (taking the fight to AT&T Stadium to fight in front of 60k+ Latino fans on the biggest Mexican holiday), he can fight Miguel Cotto again, or he can pay Frank Warren $5m plus the UK rights to the fight to bring Billy Joe Saunders over. There are other options.

Alvarez has two PPVs basically set for the year (with a third fight likely for regular HBO to close out the year). and it's bad business to keep things in flux forever.

Listen to this, I can't even make this up cause Julio is a genius. They bet their purses and theres a 1 million per lb over 164.5. so if Julio is getting 5-6 mill, that means Julio can come in 5-6 lbs extra, Canelo will get the money and since Julio will not drain himself and be in shape, come in at 180 plus, the day of the fight looking like the hulk, beat the **** out of Canelo and go home with the ENTIRE PURSE. F***ng GENIUS.
Alvarez has proven to the world that he's not a punk, and that's not going to change for this fight. Alvarez is going to be giving up size, but don't let yourself be fooled into thinking that Alvarez isn't going to walk into the ring at 170lbs on fight night in his own right.

You add that Chavez Jr isn't all that big a puncher, and his efforts to try and fight like his father have negated any of the physical advantages that he comes into the fight with, and it'll be too clever by half
