I think you're misinterpreting the concerns around his team. Signing with Top Rank was an understandable (borderline great idea). But what a lot of us who are familiar with hip-hop, and particularly the history between Mayweather/Haymon and Prince, have some concerns about the relationship there.

I think we all rooting for Skakur, but having Prince involved complicates his career more than the general fan would realize.

If you were going to sign with Arum, why would you need J-Prince at all? Arum can do all for him and more. It's clear his options became limited once he signed with Prince/Ward and Arum felt comfortable dealing with the bull**** that he knows will eventually come.

Why would you need Prince? I don't know. Maybe the same reason why the likes of Rios and Bradley, despite being with Arum, needed Dunkin.

The Muhammad Ali act, however useless you may think it to be, needs to be considered.

Well aware of the requirement that fighters have a "manager",but this particular manager raises questions. This young fighter may or may not have known what baggage comes with this guy.

Ward's "retirement" talk isn't coming from outta nowhere...People don't look at the manager enough when things look weird (unless his name is Haymon lol), most of the time they have more influence than the promoters. (Unless they're defacto employees of the promotional company; which was discussed in the GBP/Haymon case).

Now that haymon has his own thing with PBC he isn't using Mayweather promotions anywhere as much as people thought. Exactly. Before PBC haymon used golden boy exclusively and tried to buy golden boy as part of his big power play. If he thought more of Mayweather promotions why was he looking for another promotion to partner with like golden boy? And after he couldn't buy out golden boy why not just move on and use Mayweather promotions exclusively to replace golden boy? Instead he uses guys like Lou more then he uses Mayweather promotions. Haymon's own actions let's you know that he doesn't trust Mayweather promotions to handle the workload or properly promote. After the golden boy break up everyone predicted haymon to send his fighters to Mayweather promotions but that hasn't happened. PBC sends floyd a few scraps nothing more. Lou and others are who PBC used more and now you got Schaefer in the mix too. Doesn't leave much for Mayweather promotions.
