How many fighters have turned down 5x their highest payday for a fight?

Canelo Alvarez is the only one that comes to my mind.

Canelo vs GGG for the unified WBC, IBF, and WBA MW titles would have been a monster fight.

GGG would have jumped at 160 and 20%, which would easily have gotten Canelo 5x more than he made for handing over his belt and fighting Liam Smith instead.

Canelo made $13 mil for Khan, did he turn down over 60 mil for Golovkin? Nope.

By the looks of it nobody has ever come close to turning down 5x their highest payday. Will Golovkin be the first?

GGG and his team have never said anything racist or disrespectful about black Americans and he is a popular fighter with plenty of fans, like me, who are neither racist nor ex pactards.

You may not be, but its hard to expect this when the worst GGG fans judge all Flotd, Roy, Ward etc, fans are treated the same.

Sorry, but I just dont buy into the notion that most BOXING FANS are motivated by race. Sure, theres a few, like the TS, and Kilgali, SugarKaine, a few others, but the truth is that great fighters come in ALL colors. Who can be a true boxing fan and hate Hagler, Robinson, or Holyfield, or 1000 others? The concept is absurd. And sorry to break it to you, but Floyd is VERY easy to hate, not because he's black, but because he's a douche. When he changed from "Pretty Boy" to "Money", he became one of the biggest douchebags in the world. And it made him alot of money, so I suspect he couldnt less what I think.

Personally I dont "hate" Floyd, because truthfully I wouldnt put in the effort required to actually "hate" someone. He's really not even worth my contempt. But I do think he's a jackass. A very rich, very talented jackass, but a jackass nonetheless.

where is this notion that "manny's ex-fans" are now GGG fans? seriously. i didn't stop being a fan of manny because he lost to floyd (i know that's what you are implying when you say "ex" he had losses before that) i'm a fan of manny and GGG, had criticized both for fights that both took that were very disapointing (algieri, brook). i'm not ****** to believe that someone like kigali or canelomaidana for example (they are probably both alts of the same poster) are actual fans of the sport like i believe you should be able to distinguish the trolls/alts that support GGG/manny from their actual fans.

I honestly don't disagree with you, kafkod and others in principle. The garbage on the site needs to be cleaned up.

That said, part of me doesn't feel bad when I see these petty theories/logic thrown at the very worst GGG fans and the reaction they have.

I was only referring to that fringe element of the GGG fanbase to differentiate them from fans like you.

I agree with you about the flooding in principle. That said, as a Floyd fan, sifting through daily garbage to get at a decent thread is something I've been dealing with for a long time.

I can provide pointers if necessary.
