Golovkin isn't a big draw, he's being offered money that would take him 5 fights to make. But the opponent he's being offered that money for is the one ducking?
Still nobody has named 1 fighter that turned down anywhere close to 5x their highest payday for a fight. Lots of nonsense about Canelo ducking etc. Canelo didn't turn down 5x his highest payday for a fight.
Isaac Clarke turned down a basic level of intelligence to become one of the dumbest people on planet earth. At least that's for sure.
How many world champions have called a mandatory challenger up into the ring after a fight, promised to fight him next, told his trainer to "feel my balls" ... then handed over their title, without making any offers at all?
Never seen anyone accept a flat fee in the biggest fight in boxing. Golovkin deserves a split of the pot, we don't know how much this fight will make. It doesn't make sense for Golovkin to accept a flat fee. I don't blame him for turning that down. Pac turned down Floyds flat fee of 40 million despite never making close to that and went on to make about 4 times that when the fight happened. When Lewis and Tyson fought, it was obvious Tyson was the draw but Lewis was the champion and guess what? They split the fight 50-50. A flat fee is bull**** plain and simple. It's just another roadblock after they started off with demanding the fight at 155.
The fight will happen when Canelo and Oscar feel he can win and that's when they will offer Golovkin a fair percentage.
At the end of the day all this petty reasoning is irrelevant.
A fight is worth a certain amount. Each fighter has a certain amount of leverage to negotiate with and that will decide the eventual split.
We can speculate about how much each fighter brings to the table and what each is worth, but really we dont know the ins and outs.
All i know is public flat fee offers are rarely genuine and are mostly a PR move. Quigg vs Frampton and May vs Pac each had their own flat fee offers in negotiations, in both cases the fighter being offered the deal went on to make far more as part of a % split.
It depends on who you support. Stevonson turns down a terrible offer he's ducking Kovalev. And that's the narrative until the end of time. However a lot of people like GGG so when he turns down his biggest offer by far somehow Canelo ends up the ducker. Same thing happened with Manny and Floyd.

You dont need to be a big draw to be a big part of the fight.
'GGG vs Canelo' as an event is a brand in itself, and Golovkin is a big part of that.
