I think the ppv model will be dead within the next 10 years.

People just aren't gonna keep on paying a lot of money for this in the modern day and age when a lot of things are online.

They have ditched cable and are looking for more economical alternatives.

They are going to have to market and advertise differently if people are going to be making money in the future.

Mikey is a good fighter but he doesn't have what Tyson, Pac, Mayweather, etc had to generate worldwide interest and dollars.

PPV is dying. Especially now that there are no marketable stars that would revive it.

It will be interesting to see what they do next with Garcia, if they want to make him a huge star he needs to fight on one of the PBC "free" outlets to get him out in front of the widest audience. Probably doing that twice maybe with a Showtime event mixed in.

The good thing for Mikey is he could come back pretty quick off this fight if he wants and has that opportunity so he could do quite a bit of work this year.

He only beat a midget bum in Dejan and he is the next Chavez, a ppv star? Lol gtfo

Only a few in Boxing gets to be a ppv attraction. It takes more than being a good fighter to be one.

A lot like I see it too. Much will depend on who he fights and how he wins.

Ppv star? Charisma? Lol!!!!!!! Schaefer smoking some good stuff. Garcia has major skills but zero personality and charisma. Also tends to fight very defensive against top level - IE Salido fight.

He is brilliant and seems like such a nice guy too remember hearing him on the Paulie Malignaggi podcast too. He was deeply respectful of his opponent as was Robert Garcia.

I hope he does become the next boxing superstar.

It was refreshing that everyone who fought last night seemed to be a genuinely good guy/gentleman/sportsman. It was kind of old school.

I am a bit disillusioned with most sports stars in general so it was great to see boxers being a credit to the sport.

He has yet to be matched up with real opposition where it's a true 50/50 on paper or he's the underdog. What fight had he been in where those are true? Unless he's been in fights similar to Thurman vs Porter or Frampton vs Santa Cruz, I don't see it happening.

Come on man be realistic. He was out 2 and a half years and even before he left he would have needed at least a few more fights before even being considered to headline a ppv. Hes only known amongst hardcore boxing fans, hes not even headlining his own cards anymore. Loma and crawford both have big jumps on garcia and even crawford s ppv tanked after being one of the stars of boxing and headlining a fair amount of title fights. Its going to be at least a couple years
before he will be popular and known enough to be on ppv. Ggg was a household name and selling out huge venues and Hes still not a bona fide ppv star

The competition around his weight that could help make him a ppv star, are with Top Rank (loma, crawford, and pac) Loma isnt ready for Mikey, Pac would trip over Mikeys foot, and Crawford would be a great fight. And Bob wouldnt make these fights anyway...
