But retiring, after signing the rematch clause and pouting because the media is criticizing you would be a hoe move and he's the one that used the R word, not me.

Don't talk about wanting to be the next Mayweather/Roy Jones then pull a stunt like that. They gave rematches when the public questioned their victories.
Your joking right? You just mentioned two guys who picked more cherries than Chavez picked g****s! Two guys who ducked many, waiting for father time and anything else...Ward is way ahead already, Ward fought up and cleaned his division out. he fought the guys in his division prime for prime. Lets compare his fight with Kovalev to mayweather's wait and let Pac age fight.

he took the first fight. not sure how you can consider the man a coward. you seem to think kovalev was the big bad wolf. ward fought him in his prime.

now, you can call him a diva for not taking the second fight, but there's probably a reason for his camp not taking the fight, or at least holding out. inflation. ward is paid too much, and his purses have been inflated for several years now. rocnation looks like they took a hit. they're probably not going to do it again.

so does ward take a cut in pay? does kovalev? does the second fight do better? as much as i hate to admit it, the fight had little buzz and didn't cross over all that much into the mainstream. the fight was very good, but not a barnburner or a wild fight. i expect #2 to do similar numbers to #1.

kovalev is probably comfortable with another 2 million. is ward going to take less, in spite of the fact that many thought he lost? no freaking way. we know that much about ward at this stage. he'll float retirement out there, the way he has done in the past. he doesn't want to retire, surely you all understand that. he wants less to take a pay cut, however, and is probably serious when he holds retirement over his prpmotors as leverage. this is a guy who has sat out in the past, and who surely isn't above doing it again.

Ward made the Kovalev fight within a year. How many years would some other guys have made us wait for it? He deserves real respect for that.

Ignore the interviews and the bull**** around rematch negotiations. If he drags his feet and doesn't give an immediate rematch, then fair enough, criticise him for that. But Ward has dared to be great and if you can't respect that you're not a real boxing fan.

Yes! Which is probably why Roc Nation, is not jumping in there trying to get this thing done. part of the problem is the unfortunate situation that this fight might not pay a profit. One cannot expect the guys to fight for peanuts either. I am beggining to think this fight is not economically feasable. I hope I am wrong. But that might not be Ward's fault.
It is kind of his fault, because his unreasonable monetary demands put RN in red.

              Your thread title is pathetic.

Of course there's currently little interest from him regarding a rematch. The fight was only a few months ago. He doesn't have to do anything at this stage.

This is hilarious coming from a Joe Calzaghe fan, who often bragged: "I don't do rematches"

(unless you were a WBO guy like Veit)

At the end of the day Ward can do whatever he pleases. He can reneg on his word and not give Kovalev the rematch. He can go out on his shield with his last fight clearly ending with a controversial decision. It's up to him. If he doesn't give the rematch I think there will always be a negative take on an otherwise excellent career.

All fighters have a negative on their careers.

Roy didn't duck guys and pick cherries.

Regarding Andre, he doesn't deserve any criticism at this stage. The fight was only a few months ago.
