Who lands the harder more damaging shots should be taken into account. I don't care if a guy lands 20 backpedaling jabs in a round...a few solid power shots negates that imo.Comment

It's not a mistake at all...the extra point is for the knockdown, but in some cases the knockdown doesn't automatically win the round.Comment

All this was applied round by round in the kov fight and guess what the wrong guy won anyway cause ward didn't win more than 5 rounds, close fight or not that's a robbery.
The degale jack fight isn't a robbery because there was no loser but still a bad decision because degale didn't win 6 rounds.
So all cause it's a close fight doesn't mean it could go either way apply your criteria round by round and you should have a scorecard to add up for a clear winner, as far as the last 2 major controversial fights go.Comment

Compubox also tells you how many punches and what type of punches the two boxers landed in each individual round. That is relevant and important because at least they are neutral even if they aren't perfect. Most of us already know fights are scored round by round and not by the grand total of punches landed. Many think Kovalev won more rounds than Ward plus he got the extra point for the knock down and therefore deserved the win. Likewise some think Jack won more rounds than DeGale and should have won a close fight.Defense is pretty much it's own reward. If you have a good defense it prevents your opponent from landing punches on you.Comment
