VETERAN BOXING EXECUTIVE ERIC GOMEZ PROMOTED TO PRESIDENT OF GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS

"Eric has been a trusted adviser, confidante and friend throughout my career both as a fighter and a promoter," De La Hoya said. "From close relationships with our fighters, to sharp insight into the business of the sport, to an ability to manage a growing team of professionals, there is no one in the sport who has a better or broader view of boxing."

Effective immediately, Gomez will begin overseeing day-to-day functions of all boxing-related aspects of Golden Boy Promotions, working with a stable of dozens of superstar fighters including the sport's biggest headliner, Canelo Alvarez.

I didn't know that so thanks.

As I said there's definetly more to the offer than just a flat fee, and given the info on the 15m comes from GBP officially, then surely K2 has to react. If it was a flat fee of 15m with no strings attached, they'd be ****** not to take it.

    • Damn how many Wilder fans in here calling Golovkin a duck for not accepting the flat fee, but they are now defending Wilder ducking?

They saw the light when "Mr 97k" put up the third highest gate in boxing history.

        • Surprised I don't have any responses in this thread. Anyway, for fights this big it makes sense to get yourself a % to avoid risk of getting brutally cucked.

...at this point it's clear who's ducking who.

            • Take the flat fees if they offer 15million, of 35% 40 millions is less than that. At least the 15m would be guaranteed for a fight that might not sell well.

Yeah I don’t think these guys want to see this fight. Why would anyone care about a flat fee or a % unless you are getting paid from it.

Nice try. I'm actually a Joshua fan, and haven't stated one way or another whether he should accept the offer, because I legitimately don't know how much is on the table. I did in GGG's case, hence my recommendation.

I've expressed concerns about the alleged lack of a date or location though, which make it sound like dodgy.

Don't let any of that stop you from your agenda though...

Eh? You know exactly how much is on the table for Wilder because both sides have explicitly said .. it's $12.5 million.

And you don't know how much was on the table for GGG because the actual amount was never stated, by either side.

Another thing you are not taking into account .. AJ is offering to fight Wilder immediately.

GGG was asked to sign a contract agreeing a flat fee for a fight more than a year down the line, which would have been an idiotic thing to do.

                    • It's all about knowing your value and what you are worth. Pac refused a $40M flat-fee offer from Floyd--smart move. GGG is more popular than Wilder on any day. Wilder will NEVER earn $12.5M without Joshua and Joshua can go on earning $15-20M per fight without him. Wilder will be lucky to earn more than $2M if he wants to keep fighting no-hopers in the states.
