There would have been no need for a purse bid if Oscar had offered GGG $10million and 160 back then, when Canelo was still WBC champion.

According to Oscar, who is till the only source we have for this, he made that offer in Aug 2016, and it was for a fight in Sept 2017.

No 3 belt reigning world champion accepts an offer like that more than a year ahead of the date, without any counter offer or negotiations, especially from someone who has already broken their word and run away from it twice.
